    advice on chest

    hey everyone,

so i have this mental problem when it comes to training my chest.. it all started wen i was younger i hopped under the bar my mate help me take it of the rack n i went to do a rep, it was to heavy and slammed on my chest.. anyway ever since then i havnt been able to master the mental approach goin in to a chest session, its really bugging me as it was 7years ago and my chest just doesnt get stronger, also it seems im not isolating my chest muslce as much as i wuld like, sometimes(well most of the time) when im fatiguing my left shoulder rolls forward seems as tho it takes over from my chest.. please any advice on how to improve my mental approach on this and any exercises to isolate my chest better.. thanks for ur time

Try doing db presses, I only do bb presses when I do a heavy pyramid. If you have a power rack at your gym set the stopping points a **** hair above your chest and go hard, no worries then. After a couple good sets that mental shit will turn into confidence. Own it man.

I try to keep my elbows closer to my body than regular form as I have shoulder problems as well and it seems to isolate my chest and keeps. that shoulder from rolling. You might feel your tri's in the movement a little bit more than usual, so find your sweet spot and go hard.

Find your right grip, pin your shoulders back and stick your chest out. arch your back a little bit and drop the weight and do slow reps to focus on the chest

    Good advise...

Smart chest training is about training your chest... Simple.

Arch your back, pin shoulders back and keep them there... Developing good traps will help with your chest training

I suggest trying a wider grip, if you are not feeling your chest ingaged you are not doing the lift properly. Try to do the lift slowly and controlled, use a weight you feel comfortable with. On your first set do as many reps as it takes ontil you feel your chest engaged in the exorcise.
Weither it take 10 of 50 reps, just keep going ontil you feel your chest burn, on the next set you can do lower reps, because now your chest will be ingaged ;-)

Go on YouTube and search for vicnatural chest workout, I think it will help u alot, good luck!

    1) I agree with dumbells to increase the lttle stabalizer muscles
    2) light weight, slow conroled lift
    3) deep breath in on the down stroke with a big chest then exhale as you psh up
4 I like doing "floors" use the squat rack and lay on the floor, wide grip and bring the bar down till your triceps or flat on the floor then push up.

Flat bench and incline DB's is the way to go.
