Diet is more important than the specifics of your training plan when you want to put on LBM. Any routine that emphasizes free weights, basic compound movements, proper form and a full range of motion will work just fine as long as you eat enough clean calories. Likewise, the best training plan in the world won't help you if you're not eating enough. As an ectomorph, this is especially true. The point can't be stressed enough.
That said, you should have a good balance of low and medium-rep sets (4-10 reps) to build both strength and size. Ectomorphs are at greater risk of overtraining than other body types, so keep your volume to a moderate level and your intensity high.
