i don't think there is one. possibly for balance reasons or an extra push since you an arch your hips better when your feet are on the bench.

not really a difference, Also some do it if they have bad back problems and need tohave their back more flat than arched

feet on the floor gives you more power to get past your critical point and gives you better balance

make sure NOT to arch your back

    Hey there withoutd0ubt,

I came to screatching HALT when I read "make sure NOT to arch your back."

I was always told, and read, to have your butt and delts on the bench but middle of back should be off of bench, which would be arched. Was I misinformed?

    Thanx,

    Bobbo

no you wasn't. arching your back allows more power to push up the weights. if you watch, alot of powerlifters sometimes arch their backs.

When benching keep your shoulders and butt/lower back flat on the bench. You start arching to where the only point of contact on the bench is your shoulders your asking for an injury. Yeah you can arch and cheat, butyou'll also be risking hurting yourself. I've seen plenty of guys get hurt using that method.

yeah i know you can't keep your back perfectly flat on the bench but i see people really lifting up their lower back off the bench for a little extra power and that is VERY risky for injury, keep your scalpulas on the bench as well as your butt and then just have your natrual back arch, don't try to arch or try to keep it flat, keep it natrual as that is the way your body best holds itself,
