    Belt for your lifts

    Hi,

I am lifting very heavy up to 5 reps on my big compounds movement. I'm planning to use a belt to support my lower back to avoid injury.

I was wondering if you use the belt for Deadlifts and squats only? Do you keep the belt on during your whole workout routine?

Sorry if this sound vague but I'm just curious what other people do as I have never used a belt and never got injured (thanks to Yoga and good form)

I wear a belt once I break the 400 mark on squats or deads, and that's the only time I wear it. All the belt is really doing is giving you a solid place to flex your core into. I don't wear them on weights lower than 400 to help strengthen my core. 400 is just my number, yours may be different.

I do the same as stpete. Think it gives me a psychological boost as well.
