It depends on your goals. for what it's designed for, I think it's fantastic. I also think, that in the right light, Zoomba, X-fit, Yoga, even Thai-Bo (Thanks Mr. Banks) are all fantastic. Anything that gets you moving, and exercising, and feeling good is fantastic. I think P90X is a fantastic program, despite it's cheesy, mega-hype marketing. They outright say the only way it will work is by serious hard work, and diet. They don't offer a magic pill, or a "secret hollywood doesn't want you to know". They tell you that the more you change your life, the better results you will get. This is true, not only for P90X, but powerlifting, bodybuilding, and life in general. My wife has done all of the p90x programs, and there is no doubt it is hard, and works if you put in the effort. At least it worked in meeting HER goals. If leaning up, and good cardio health are your goals, go for it. At the very least it's 90 days you commit, and a great place to start living a much healthier, and aesthetically appealing life. If your goal is to bodybuild, it might not be what your looking for. However, if you've lived a fairly sedentary lifestyle and now want to build, maybe 90 days of intense p90x will prep your body for the training you want. You will find tons of positive reviews for insanity, most positive. Just keep in mind that its a specific program with specific goals in mind. and from that perspective I'd say you can;t really loose.

And to anyone who would knock someone for doing insanity or zoomba or anything else, you're the looser in the gym making fun of the people trying to better themselves, when you should be the winner encouraging them. This is meant for a specific member who was continuously posting about "x-fit phags". You know who you are.

Thats the thing, 'it' does nothing, YOU do everything. As a tool for YOU to use, then you'll have great success, if you use it right. This forum is also fantastic, I know my wife had issues with diet, as p90x just sort of has a chart of whats good to eat, whats ok, and whats bad. Use the nutrition resources here and that will really help you dial in.

Great program for weight and fat loss...from my satndpoint I don't care for it because it's too heavy in cardio and results in muscle wasting. If your goal is simply to get lean fast and your not concerned with size and strenght then it's perfect!

Its not good for your knees and lower back.

Its also unrealistic to stick with it

The guy's training for MMA, I don't think he's to concerned if there's a little extra pressure on his knees and back. As far as sticking with it, nothing is impossible, and this is certainly not unrealistic. Tons of people stick to p90x, and many others use it as their stepping stone into a bigger world of health and fitness. In this regard I think the benefits far outweigh the stress on the knees and lower back.

She only lost about 7 lbs, but she didn't really have a whole lot to loose in the first place. We weren't judging her results on the scale, but on the mirror. In that respect she was quite happy.

I would think if he is training mma it would be super important to not have pain in his knees or back. Anyhow

its notoriously unrealistic and yes temporary features def out weigh knee and back pain

Insanity is great! When i first used it i was 230 lbs, and that wasnt muscle. It is insanely hard, i couldnt even finish the warmup. But i saw results within a week. I got to where i could finish the videos at the end of the month, albeit with more breaks. Keep in mind i was extremely out of shape, got winded walking a flight of stairs. I only did the first month. As for sticking with it, it wasnt that hard. I had a terrible diet, changed it to their reccomended one and barely cheated, and was extremely out of shape but stuck with it for a month, also worked nights and didnt get a lot of sleep during the day. Following their diet i lost 20 lbs in the first month, and gained a little muscle, and the 2nd month is even more intense. It is heavy cardio, there are small amounts of push ups and such. Most of it involves the likes of jogging, high knees, butt kicks, log jumps, modified jumping jacks etc etc.

I dont know about being rough on knees and back but if he is in mma i most def would not advise only doing insanity. Yea maybe if u r trying to cut some weight and drop a weight class but there is only body resistant workouts which i think is good but that isnt gonna give u that much of a strength boost i would advise doing both body resistant workouts and free weight training. The true great fighters r the ones that weight 185 but have the strength and punch of a 205 fighter.

Keep in mind that if u want to cut weight cardio and diet is the best way to achieve this.
