    Shoulders Strength Question

Okay so this is how it goes, after 2 years of constant training , i made a break due to health problems,i have started going to gym again 2 weeks ago, noticed most of my lifts stayed the same(the weights dropped for 20% maybe) except on shoulders..my strength on those dropped for like 50% ?! Is that a normal thing? I had a minor shoulder injury as kid, they are broad and big,but strength seems to lack, while i was bulking strength in them went up a lot, so now when i came back i'm kinda pissed that all of my effort went away so easily..

I wouldn't get stuck on it.

As you said yourself, your shoulders are broad and big, so who cares if they are currently lacking strength due to having taken off time for a while.

Would you rather be a guy who can bench press 300lbs and look like a guy who can only bench 150 or vice versa?

There are certainly more important things in BB than what you seem to be beating yourself over recently. Get over it, you'll regain your strength in that area in a few months.. .

    Good question!

OKAY, so your shoulders are primarily fast-twitch fibers (meaning they are best suited for pushing heavy weight.) The amount of slow-twitch fibers in your shoulders are lower than any other muscle group in your body. Therefore, if you stop utilizing the fast twitch fibers (as your body was accustomed to), you lose it!

Here's the good news: Although genetically shoulders lose their strength the fastest, they also grow and get stronger faster than any other muscle group on your entire body... in general that is. Just keep hitting them like you were they will come back in a matter of a month or so (:

As tj mentioned. It's not how much you can lift its how much you look like you can lift.
I have friends I train with that are way stronger than I am, but I dwarf them in a mirror. All depends what you're trying to get outta lifting

I was thinking the same exact thing so thank you for saving me having to ask that question. I was about to be jealous as hell if that was indeed TJ!

Hamdullah has unique genetics and he maintains his competition weight all year around.

When he cuts, he literally turns into the world's most ripped and possibly the most aesthetic senior BB.

You heard right, he is almost 45 and still competes for the 1st place, as he often takes the 1st place when he does.

Sometimes words aren't enough to describe what some people are capable of doing...
