Should one change their training split while on cycle?

Hey, all. So I am running my cycle in a weeks time. It looks like this:

Weeks 1-8 Test prop 100mgs EOD
    Weeks 1-8 Anavar 60mgs ED
    Weeks 1-8 Aromasin 12.5mgs ED
    Weeks 1-8 HCG 250iu 2xWEEK

    PCT:

    Clomid 100/75/50/50
    Nolvadex 40/40/20/20

I am 23 years old (please, no flaming for the age.) I am also 180lbs and a legit 9% BF (visible 6 pack.) I have a solid 5 years of training under my belt as well.

For the relevance of this post, I'd like briefly discuss what a training split should be like while on cycle. I have ran a few cycles in the past. My most recent one was last summer with Test prop, var, and primo. I was on a 5 day split and it looked like this:

    Monday: Full upper body
    Tuesday: Full lower body
    Wednesday: Hill Springs
    Thurday: Full upper body
    Friday: Full lower body
    Saturday: Full upper body
    Sunday: OFF

I'm not quite sure if this was optimal or not. I did, however, get some pretty sick results from my cycle. I was quite happy, to say the least. My the looks of my last sentence, I might have just answered my own question. That answer being, stick with what works.

I was going to stick with that same approach for this upcoming cycle. However, lately I have been reading about how steroids may actually slow recovery. Now, before people get all crazy on me here bear with me, for a second. What I meant was that when one is on cycle muscles contract harder, therefore, this is actually more physically taxing to the body. Constant contractions can lead to overtraining, I believe. I don't have the exact source on where I have read this, so I am not going to put a ton of stock into this theory. I did find it interesting, though. It also makes sense, actually.

Anyways, I just wanted to share this concept with some of the members here on the forum and wanted to see their opinion on this. I used to do the old bodybuilding routine of a 6 day split. I ditched that a few years ago because i felt that I was grinding myself into the ground.

Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

To tell you the truth I don't like your split why would you hit all upper and all lower, for me I split into chest and biceps, legsdelts and triceps, back this way you can focus on the muscle your actually wanting to target, and by splitting this way muscles that are used aren't hinder by previous workouts. Age is no good either sry wont just keep that quite even if you ask, Im wondering where is this split based?

P.s you can overtrain on and off aas so if you know what your doing it won't slow recovery especially if you diet is in check IMO.

Thanks for the honesty, Dougie. I was running a 6 day split for about 4 years. It looked like:

    Monday: Chest/tris
    Tuesday: Back/bis
    Wednesday: shoulders/traps
    Thursday: quads
    Friday: hamstrings
    Saturday: arms

I was hitting this split, as I mentioned earlier for about 4 years to be blunt, it wasn't working. So that's why I mixed it up. When one is natural, they have to hit a muscle group more often. When one is on cycle, muscle contractions are harder, therefore, training more often unnecessary. That's the research I have been reading about and I was wanting other opinions. Now, know this all might sound like ludicrous, because it is against traditional splits, but please try and be civil lol.

    Thanks

That upper and lower body setup is garbage. To maximize gains muscles need healing time.

Totally understand, man. However, when I say upper body, it's not like I'm doing every exercise under the sun. I periodize properly and do the necessary soft tissue work, mobility, etc to help recovery. I only hit abound 12-16 total work sets for that session. That is nothing, considering I'm only hitting upper body 2x week. I also Deload for a week after 12-14 weeks of training.

I would personally got to the split you did 4 years ago its not the split that didn't work it was how you were working out man sorry, also we all want to get big and lose bf but I would pick bulk first then cut IMO. To me it's easier tat way also your bf is great man if you get up 10-15 pounds gain 1-2% you can cut back down That 1-2 and stay at 9 from what I have seen 7% is a b$tch to get to and maintain 9 is a good look to me man. Try checking out HIT workouts Marcus outlined one way in his thread here http://forums.steroid.com/lifting-te...-training.html and get a good clean bulking diet I think you will be satisfied wit your result.
