Benefits of working out 2x a day?

Is working out two times a day verses once better. If it is would I want to do the same muscle group each day or different ones and what times would be best once in the morning and once in the evening. My workouts would last 45-60 minutes. Thanks.

Once is enough a day unless you are not pushing you self and don't ever work the same muscle 2 times in a day you will not get better results that way just have 1 intense session a day in the gym.
What are your goals? Bodybuilders & power lifters & strongman don't train the same way

My goal is to build as much muscle as possible, i would say look like a fitness model rather than a bodybuilder. My stats are 160, 5'9, 12%bf, 23 years old. Are you saying weights and cardio is better than weights and weights. Thanks.

Sometimes people do split routines where you work one muscle group in the morning and another in the afternoon. And like bdos was asking, would you do resistance exercise and then cardio?

I wouldn't hit the same muscle group twice per day. You would simply be over-training and exhausting yourself.

Yes, you can definitely workout twice a day if you have enough time to do so. If I were to lift two times a day, I would split my routine into two parts. For example, if my workout looked like so...

    Flat BB Bench 3x5
    Incline BB Bench 3x10
    Dumbbell Flys 3x15
    CG Bench 3x8
    French Press 3x10
    Tricep Pulldowns 3x12

I would do the bench work in the morning and then tricep work later in the evening. That would allow for you to be extra rested for each muscle group. Or you can workout once a day like the rest of us!

If you want mass dont go overboard on the cardio i dont do it at all really maybe 10mins just to warm up. Working the same muscle group is not a good idea

You'll have a lot more free time since you'll most likely have a lifting related injury very soon after starting this plan.

Gotta admit I do major around 1:30. Eg chest. Go home. Eat. Rest. And hit secondary around 4:30. I just find I can go heavier on the secondary splitting it. But I don't do this all the time. Sometimes I'll hit them immediately it just depends on how I feel and time schedule. I only do this to try overloading each precise muscle group. So doing chest I'll try to concentrate on just the pectorals and tri's just the tri's. Isolation takes a while to master I gotta say.

When you are trying to build mass you won't stay at 12% bf and will prob go up to around 15 or 16 depending on how long you bulk. I would do very light cardio when bulking for best results like 15 minutes on the stair stepper right after workout or on a empty stomach about 3 times a week. Remember to count Macro's.
