2. dumbell pullovers are a lat exercise... do on back day..
1- Does incline hammer chest press good choice instead of incline hammer machine ? [ because my gym doesn't have it ]
It's just incline dumbells presses, same as machine. And dumbells pullovers are also a chest exercise just executed differently, you tube it.Originally Posted by Soomy
1. incline press whether barbell or dumbbell free is better for upper chest because it brings in you secondary surrounding muscle also known as you stabilizers and tendons
2. Pull overs are primarily for lats however if done properly to the fullest range can EXPAND your chest.
...crazy mike
As far as any machine for chest it would be done as a secondary exercise for reps and very heavy exercises , ,,,crazy mke
Not sure where YouTube got it's degree in Kinesiologybut pullovers are definitely not a chest ex. Joints (body parts) only move when the muscles attached to them contract). The fibers in the chest are attached to the upper arm (true) so--yes--they will go with the upper arm even if you lift it WAY above/beyond your head (as you would be doing in a pullover). BUT...the other side of the muscles is attached--horizontally--to the sternum. So the only time those fibers will be contracting is when you move you arm in a horizontal fashion (toward the front/midline) (i.e. horizontal flexion/adduction). When you do a pullover, the joint-action of your arm is doing "regular" extension (which is an action performed by your lats. The lats are also responsible for regular adduction (which is what it does in a pullDOWN). Nevertheless, it's physiologically impossible for the pec major to perform the mvmt that occurs n a pullover.
CLARIFICATION: the clavicular portion of the pec major (i.e. the upper-upper chest) will--to a degree--activate during a pullover (as will the pec minor) but not enough to warrant doing a pullover as a "chest" exercise.
Think about it...a pullover is merely a "low row" that is started waaaaaaay up high. So using dumbells really is silly b/c the ROM during which the muscle has any real resistance is like...less than 6inches. Try this: get on hands and knees, beneath the cable multi-station. Keeping both knees, and one hand on the ground, grab a handle (that is positioned a few feet above the head) (tuck elbow in as u would n a low row) and pull down--then back. You essentially combining a pullover with a partial low row. But at least the "pullover" part will have a larger ROM. Again...this'll be working your lats so...maybe this tip was pointless for you, hahaha.
Peace, bro.
