Finally started gathering what I need for a home gym, but some of the bars, DBs, and plates are pretty rusty.
Any ideas for me?
Sorry - I tried to search for the topic, but didn't have much luck.
Thanks

Elbow grease.
Steel wool works too, but what both these said too.^^^^
Equipoise might work, too. That's one use for it.

If you have access to a sandblaster that will work good. You could probably go to any local powder coat guy and he would do it for you. After they will look brand new. You could also knock the majority of the rust off and spray paint then with rustolium

Wire brush (like for an outdoor grill) would work fine too.
Thank you all! I'll get to work then. I do have a wire brush, but I also have a drill with some wire thing on it.
I didn't know that about WD40 - that should be a big help.
Well, I'm glad you think EQ is good for at least ONE thing!
There's a ton of stuff - I'll get a workout just polishing it up.
Thanks guys!!
For anybody else looking for help - for surface rust the brillo pads and a drill with a wire brush attachment is great. For deeper rust, and rust in the grip of barbells - muriatic acid is a huge help!
I soaked stuff, then rinsed the acid off with water, then painted with Rustoleum.
The bars and plates are beautiful.
Hex dumbbells next...
