is my shrug form ok/ safe?

Recently I noticed this way felt like it took more stress off of my back. I'll stand with my feet together, knees slightly bent and leaning slightly forward at the waist with dumbbells at my side. I used to do feet shoulder apart straight back

I do it the same way. Bending ur knees and keeping them bent instead of cheating in the movement and a bent bit forward gives ur more range for contraction of traps at the top of the movement. Same with barbell.

It's simply smart to bend your knees. They can then act as shock absorbers basically and take stress off of your lower back.
