    Workout and work conflict

    Hey folks,

I tend to work 8 - 12 hour shifts, standing pretty much all the time. So basically trying to get a leg workout is pretty difficult, cause it can work pretty much impossible with the DOMS. by the time I have a day off, I feel like I need to rest my legs from all the standing. Anyone have any experiences with anything like this?? any tips to incorporate a good leg workout?

    Cheers

You should still be able to add leg routine.

The DOMS is only a difficult issue in the beginning, once your body adapts it becomes less and less.

Just go slow in the beginning to minimize debilitating DOMS, then slowly pick up the intensity.

What he said ^. Eventually your body will adapt and your legs won't get so sore. I haven't had a debilitating DOMS day in a couple of years, yet all my leg day lifts have gone up.

When I did get sore, one thing that I found helped recovery was to avoid locking your legs when standing. Try to keep a very slight bend at the knee.

I pretty.much have the same work schedule. Personally, I believe DOMS goes with the territory, but it can be minimized somewhat.Everyone is different, but for me stretching between sets, glutamine, and NSAIDS when necessary provide some relief.

Lifting is supposed to be difficult. If it's not impossible, do it and your body will adapt. I used to work minimum 8 hours working construction (mason) and we sat down for a 30 minute break at lunch. That's it. I now do 10-12 hours working at sales and I'm on my feet all day hustling my ass. Do my legs get sore, sometimes...especially after a heavy and hard squat day. I also do 45 minutes cardio after my workouts. 4 am wake and 10pm bed.

Sounds like you just need to decide if you are going to get yourself in better shape or get yourself excuses. Man up!!

Theres some good gear on camp gyms but they do get heaps packed ay. Either you go to gym or to the wet mess hahaha I use to wake up at 330 eat be at gym by 4. Be done by 5. Eat, shower then be ready for prestart at 545. You just have to make a routine and stick to it. I got really good at eating my meals very quickly ay.
