    Negative reps?

Do any of you incorporate negative reps using loads above your 1RM?

I never do 1RM but I do plenty of negative reps after complete positive failure as be achieved. I also use different beyond failure methods such as drops sets and rest pause but this all depends on the body part I am training and which protocol suit me better.

When you have done this do you feel any negative impact on your tendons?

I do it occasionally but only on the last set of an exercise. So say you were doing 3 sets, you would go through the 1st 2 as normal and then add the negatives to your final set.

I would do negatives if I had a workout partner. One of my favorite advanced training techniques.

Solo I utilize rest pauses and drop sets.

Can still use negatives for unilateral exercises, for instance, I regularly use them to take my single hand overhead tricep extensions beyond failure.

Good idea. Never really thought of that. I will sometimes do they solo on say a hammer strength chest press now that I think about it. When I can't do anymore positive, I'll drive with my whole body and sloppily get the weight up. Then, sit back down and complete the eccentric portion of the lift.

I don't have a workout partner or personal trainer anymore so the only time I can do negatives is on machines. I will do the positive side of the lift and then a very slow negative. I don't do it all the time, but occasionally.
