Best rep/set scheme for size. . but,

Like the title says, I'm looking for a good workout for mass. I understand the best way of doing this would be drop sets, forced reps, negatives. . But I workout alone. In my garage. So unfortunately, I can't go too heavy or force out one last rep. Even if I feel like I could.

What should i be doing? I used to follow 5/3/1 for power lifting. Now I do 3 heavy sets 3-5 reps, then drop to a lower weight and do 3-5 sets of 8 reps. I'm not really convinced it's doing anything.

You will hit many plateau through out your journey. What I have done to asst with it is go heavy. Max heavy on a smith machine or if you have a power rack then wheel the bench under it and use the rack as your spot. I did the house gym for a bit and found myself not pushing hard enough due to no spot.

If you want to keep the program you are currently using but want to up the intensity, you could adjust the lifting tempo and/or shorten the rest time in between sets.

I have used strength waves similar to yours but I perfer the 7-5-3 wave.

If you want a more scientifically precise explanation as to how to achieve maximum hypertrophy read the article below.

Check out P.H.A.T. You do 2 Power days and 3 hypertroph days. It's pretty high volume so might take a couple weeks to adapt.

I lift alone and the rest-pause technique and drop sets are working for me. Look @ page#41 of the "Marcus' diary" thread in the lounge. He has posted a sample 5 day routine that has worked well for me.

There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...
