    Best shoe type for lifting

What type of shoe do you use to lift with to help with form ect. I have read that a low type converse is best to go with for dead lifts and squats. What would you recommend

    Dead lifts = bare foot/socks

I was a critic until I tried it and my max went up 40lbs in 2 weeks just from the switch

Squats any type of shoe, depends wut u r targeting. Flat shoes for more glute involvement. Shoes with a heel for more quad involvement. Even then its not much of a difference unless u go with olympic lifting shoes for squats. They allow more depth with less stress on hip flexors.

Either way technically any shoe is good for squats and bare foot/socks for deadlifts

Either a dedicated weightlifting shoe with a solid sole (no sneakers that have compressibility issues, good old Chuck Taylor's, or barefoot for me.

I've been using the Adidas Powerlift 2.0 for the last year or so and love them by there are probably better more expensive options. For ~$90 I'm very happy with my purchase.

Converse for deadlifts and squats. Or wrestling shoes. Or no shoes.

I recently bought some Reebok crossfit trainers and I really enjoy them. However I do not condone crossfit, resistance train or get the hell out.

I keep on reading positive things about lifting in converse trainers - I may need to give it a go.

I'm not sure I could pull of the Chuck Taylors. haha I use to skateboard when I was younger and had no fewer than 50 pairs of these. We use to use parts of old sneakers to make Ollie-Flaps if anyone knows what that is. Would def. be a cool retro sneaker though.

Old thread but, same here, just put on my converse chuck taylor's to go lift. Although I would like a pair of nice hard soled walking type shoes for gpp work. I usually walk in my running shoes, but the sole is so cushioned it isn't very ideal for semi heavy stuff like tire flips.

I am currently using Vision Street Wear. They seem to work fine as they do have a flat sole and are comfortable.

My gym owner was a junior Olympic power lifter and swears by chucks for wide squats and deads (or barefoot ) but also states that you need a heal for narrow squats . So you need to determine how you squat ( I go narrow) and go from there.

Bare foot all the time at home. Dead lifts and squats. Everything. Wrestling shoes at the gym. No socks.

Just don't be the douche who walks around with those "barefoot`shoes where there is an outline of the toes
I don`t know why but they really bother me when I see people wearing them

I love high-tops (flat bottoms) skate or grabbling shoes. You do notice a difference when you make the change to a flat bottom shoe!

I train in Dunlop Volleys, they give me enough support and are very comfortable!
