    Proper form

    Hi guys,

I'm debating with my cousin concerning proper form over the bent over rear flyes .

There's the bent over rear delt flies
And there's the bent over back flies.

For me, its always been the position of the hands that makes it if it's back of rear delts we are hitting.

Bent over and palms facing ground works my back better and bent over palms 45° angle works shoulders for me.

Can you guys give me your point of views ?

    Thanks

For me the grip isn't a major concern it's the height of the weight. If I'm training back I will pull the weight towards my lats, rear delts I pull towards shoulders but you should really be feeling the intended muscle work. Mind to muscle connection is key when training any body part.

The more weight your ego tries to lift the harder it will be to keep good form and the more back and other muscles you will recruit to compensate.

I have seen guys use heavy dumbbells only to completely lose the negative phase.

By maintaining proper form in a slow and controlled fashion for both the lifting and the LOWERING phase you will see that only a light weight is needed to feel the burn and reach maximum stimulation.

For me, I like to keep hands in neutral grip and elbow as straight as possible.
