    I am finished with Cardio

    I need go gain weight!

Training for 8 years (24 now)

Always when I go to the gym I hit the treadmill hard.

But NO MORE I go straight to the weights room.

I was always against going straight to the weights room, without cardio warm up.

But I decided I am going to cut out Cardio!

I think a quick warm up and stretch is essential, especially when you get to my age (42). I do 5-10 min walking on the random program at 4mph, then I do some quick crunches and stretching for about 10 min. This gets the blood moving and my body ready to jump right into working sets. You don't burn enough calories to make a difference with this type of warm up, sounds like you need to revisit your diet to compensate for the cardio you were doing.

Agree. I'm 5 minutes on a stationary, and then hit the light dumb bells for some very light warm ups, followed up by some twists and very light good mornings. Just to get the blood pumping and muscles warmed up a bit.

Yes I agree, I started this thread out of frustration that is all.

All boils down to the right diet plan.

whats your height and weight? my advice is keep it very simple. Use basic exercises (squats , benches etc....dont over train.. just basic exercises, hit your big muscles twice a week and eat like hell. at your age i couldnt gain weight either no matter what i ate... wait till you are 30 ! lol... weight wont come off then!

also, ever had your test levels checked? might be good to know.

    good luck

When I was at the gym today I did an intense run on the treadmill heart rate was PUMPING!

I think when it comes to being in the weights room LESS IS MORE.

10 reps of 4 sets with weights increased on each set for whatever muscle is being trained.

Doing 8 sets at 12 reps for what?

I am at the gym wanting to bulk up more of course and to get fitter.

My problem is I look at other guys (who are and have juiced) and I am trying to eat more than I can chew.

Be happy with yourself, stick to your own training methods.

    Your own goals.

    Your own diet.

    Things will come together.

(I am getting over my mental sadness)

I still swear by cardio even on a bulk, just not a lot of it due to the obvious benefits of having a healthy heart. I sometimes workout intense enough so that I get a HR high enough to qualify as light cardio though.

Very true, I am starting to see that diet is the key, they do say diet is 75% and 25% is training.

    I can believe that.
