Thread: Do squats get you high?

    Do squats get you high?

Squats seriously get me high. Any hard set on legs gives me a super ridiculous head rush, I don't think it's from the breathing either because it generally lasts far through until the next night in terms of mood and libido. I feel like a hard leg day always gives me awesome sleep that night too. Here lately, the main motivation for busting ass on my hard leg day, which is Sunday, is

    a. awesome sleep
    b. awesome mood lift
    c. sets up a good beginning of the week. I hate mondays, but if you kill your legs on sunday, a shitty monday is better.

I used to get major libido increase after leg day, I did fairly high volume, regular squats plus front plus isolations and other things, always did front squats till heels were at ankles. But that was when I was younger. Doesn't do anything for me now.

Doing heavy compound movements and large muscle groups releases hormones, and endorphins (feel good chemicals) exercising in general does that but big compound movements I find do the same thing, I enjoy working upper body more but I get feelings of accomplishment and content when I do a heavy squat/deadlift session.

I rarely have a leg day that doesn't end with sex. Even driving home from the gym, my libido is already kicking in.

you are talking about either during or shortly after your routine.

WE are talking about later on, like on the way home after our heart rates calm down.

I've never thrown up, but came close to making a tootsie roll a couple of times..............

In addition to this I find that sometimes I just end up pushing myself too much during an exercise and get lightheaded due to lack of oxygen/blood flow. Some of these exercises work out so many muscles in your body, especially deadlift and squats, and sometimes even good breathing technique still doesn't allow for adequate replenishment of oxygen because of the high demand. This is just my opinion though.

Everything was impossible until somebody did it!

    I've got 99 problems......but my squat/dead ain't one !!

It doesnt matter how good looking she is, some where, some one is tired of her shit.

Light travels faster then sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Great place to start researching ! http://forums.steroid.com/anabolic-s...-database.html

huh, that's strange. On leg day, I usually feel real relaxed and drive home slow too. But then, I'm also walking slow, like it doesn't matter. None of it matters. I just feel good.....

Haha this has been happening to me more and more recently, especially since I hold my breath for each rep and reset for my squat/bench/dead so if I get a grinder I'm holding my breath for a lot longer than I'd like to. There also comes a point in a set where I'll get a bit dizzy and think oo better rack it, oh nah 1 more rep, I'll usually get it and sit down ASAP just to make sure I'm on the ground if I'm gonna pass out lol.

Well there are methods to pausing your breathing in order to help you rep it out, you would have to google it and find a good source, I do not have one bookmarked. It doesn't help that my hematocrit is a bit on the high side and I believe it is making the problem a little worse. I keep meaning to donate, I will one of these days.

It's for intra-abdominal pressure, your not as tight when you're breathing in and out on the eccentric/concentric, it puts more pressure on your body but it's a necessity for the big 3 (in powerlifting terms anyway)

Lol sounds dangerous, how important is donating blood when your hematocrit gets high ?

Awesome, lol so I'm not alone. I was beginning to think I was just fkd in the head.

I try to tell people. They ask me 'what keeps you coming back to the gym every day' - and I say - 'Dude I'm no better than a junkie, I'm just getting high off the iron '

swayze said it best in point break. 'Some guys shoot for it, some guys snort for it, but all you gotta do is jump' well replace jump with lift and there it is.
