    Isolated Neck Exercises......................................... ......

    Do you do them?

I never have. Well, maybe there for a short while. Mostly due to old army neck injury and lack of readily available equipment.

Just curious who does neck exercises?

I have done light isolate neck work outs when I was recovering from a pinched never.I don't do them as part of my regular work out.

Only benefit I know of with neck isolation is strengthening the muscles around the jaw line to protect the nerve under the jaw, thus helping prevent getting knocked out. I spoke to my coach at the time and he said it's good to do, but a chiropractor would freak out if you told him you do it lol.

    Yeah of course.

I think the best piece of equipment is either a head harness or tying a weight to a towel and biting down on it then using it the same way you could a head harness.

when boxing I was doing them frequently, with very light weight attached to a harness; your head gets jolted back when you get hit and the aim is prevent the damage done when getting hit; lying face down on a bench with the weight on the ground; Similarly, backstroke in the pool; and in the gym mirror with 5/7kg slow, controlled. Chewing gum is also a old school strength trick for the jaw. I have quite bad arthritis in the neck; so I frequently use these to keep my neck and that area of the back strong.
