Any thoughts and comments on yoga ?
As an experiment I started throwing in a couple of yoga classes after my workouts , about twice a week. I was trying to see if I could alleviate some of the stiffness I get after my workouts. After a couple of weeks not only did I lose all the stiffness but my flexibility and range of motion improved way more than I anticipated , which is awesome! Now, the question is , is this in any way detrimental to my lifting ? It has been suggested that to much flexibility and stretching may impact my lifting. I have no idea if there is any truth to this , have not had any adverse affects in the short time I've been doing this. I really don't want to give up yoga, women in yoga pants are a good thing !!...lol

Hyper-flexibility can have negative effects on lifting and joints in the long term. Any gymnasts or dancers i have known over the age of 40 have joint issues. The main problem i see with lifting for maximum performance is how deep you'll have to go in a squat to get a stretch reflex.
I wouldn't quit it if you are enjoying it and reaping benefit doing so.

As far as yoga goes. For building muscle it can work (ive done it) but! Only the lighter beginer stuff. If you get all crazy with the advanced stuff i think it can take away from your goals. I wouldnt do a class.. id dvr some of the crap on tv for beginers and do it at home to lengthen those muscles but dont go crazy with it.

I did yoga for little over a year, was doing awesome poses like crow pose and side crane and stuff that would basically test my core and strength out by only balancing on 2 hands. It was fun and let me calm down a lot and kind of escape the busy everyday things. Would do it after a workout, good for blood circulation and if your doing inverted stuff at some point it will promote circulation to the brain and helps with digestion and stuff
PLUS THE GIRLS ARE ROCKETS!
Here's an old side crane pic, if you have a bit of musculature the girls start peaking too
Don't do it anymore though I found my peace in the metal weights

Too much flexibility can reduce the weight you can lift in some cases but won't really affect muscle mass. Yoga is awesome for recovery and mobility. If I had the time is probably do it 1-2x a week

Thanks for the input. I don't get too crazy with it , just mostly ground based stretching.

This is true that yoga treats depression in very short period. Also, Yoga improves flexibility in body, and the best part is it helps us to shed weight in sometime. I usually do yoga with help of available yoga video online. Thanks for sharing information about Yoga workout.
