Too beat up to lift?!
Well, with the start of my new job I can barely stay awake when I get home. My days are 9-12 hours long without the drive which is another hour total. So when I get home I feel completely beat and wasted.
This is mon-fri, weekends off
Is it a better idea to go into the gym no matter what after work, beat or not? Or is it more counterproductive? Or should I sleep as much as possible - Currently I am lucky to squeeze in 6 of sleep per night
I am staying up on a high cal clean maint. diet, along with a high TRT test dose(of 325mg per week).
I am only doing this for the next 4-6 months
So my only concern is not to lose what it took so hard to achieve over the last three years - Building, I understand is damn near out of the question.

You could maintain working out 3-4 times per week, workout 2 days of the week you feel up to it, then both days of the weekend. Sleep as much as possible, fit in naps if you can. Eating a lot would help but if you're trying to maintain it wouldn't be ideal.
On the other hand you could workout before work, or go straight from work to the gym and take a hefty dose of caffeine while you're still up. I know if have a hard day of work then go home to chill out and maybe have a meal before the gym i'll lay down and that's it for the day, i need some serious drive on that day to get back up.
Personally i like getting up and working out before something i know is going to tire me out. I'd rather grind through the day extra tired than grind through a workout extra tired. Just where my priorities lay lol.

Shit, I wish
I get up at 4:30am to get to work by 6. . . Then it just caries to whenever
Last week I barely squeezed in 3 days. A shitty mid week workout & real solid workouts on the weekend.

This happens to me a lot. Today for example I slept 3hrs and worked 10.5hrs. I'm also on a peaking cycle for a PL meet and just completed a very taxing 2months of training.
I force myself to go in. Try not to make excuses or look for justification. I napped 30min in my car after eating and woke up to go to the gym cramped up. Once you get in there and moving you feel much better. Try changing your workouts so they're shorter, less frequent but more intense so you can be in there 3-4 days a week and rest the others.
If you feel you're starting to overtrain than take the rest time or deload. But there's a difference between overtraining and just feeling beat up. Good luck.

Agreed with the week off...get settled and in a grove.
I used to drive 70 miles one way to work. Work anywhere from 8-12 HR shifts.
If ur off by 6...bring clothes with you...go to the gym before going home. If you do that 1 maybe 2 times during the week.....u have 2 days on the weekend...u r golden.
Try it just for one day after ur week off.

I would make Saturday and Sunday your big gym days and try getting in two more workouts during the week. Maybe Saturday do chest, abs, biceps and triceps....Sunday legs, abs and lower back. Then you just have to fit in shoulders and upper back. May be the way to go for a bit. If your not a big leg Guy then swap legs with back on Sunday. Good luck bro.

There's no getting used to this really, it's just getting worse. Summer is coming in - we just start hitting 90's & it's special to say the least.
That's what I'm thinking though. Up the sauce maybe, keep the diet clean as fvck & squeeze in workouts where I can, use the weekend as primary lift days. Gawd I hate being the gym weekend warrior.
At least this shit keeps me sober. I'm either at work or passed out.

I'm thinking I'll use my dumbbells when I'm around the house babysitting. I got a real set up to 65Lbs. a side.
It's like, when I have energy to go, I still can't since my woman is still in school for the semester.
There's no way I'd get this big this fast, if ever if I had to work a full time job for the last 3 years.

You will get used to it, i do 11 hour shifts in heavy construction with 45min drive each way! Working in harsh heat and humidity, i still train 3 nights on 1 night off cycle. Take a pre-workout my shift is 28 days on (one day off in middle) then 7 days off. Trust me ur body just cruises through it all after awhile

I actually built a home gym for that very reason. My hours were long and I would stress about work outs. Working for UPS my days were insanely long and draining. I used to get up....train for just under an hour, eat breakfast and start my day. It was either that or don't train

Just trying to find various ways not to waste myself away, bad enough I get beat to shit & waste my time.

Do what you can when you can but I would let your body and mind get use to your new lifestyle then try and fit lifting in. Don't let it over power your mind to much and I agree with Kel that's not trt that's cycling lol..........You sound a little run down so give yourself some time to recover and see how things are in a couple of weeks
-
I hear the mind thing for sure
Makes me really understand why all the guys I work with have giant beer guts. You get beat down all day, after - the only thing you wanna do is lay out < that's a straight recipe for looking like garbage. Of course eating crappy is a part of the equation, since you feel mentally and physically too beat to give a shit.
Looking solid doing this kind of work is like driving your cadillac through the desert - it just don't work out too well.

I think you will eventually get used to it. When I was doing construction I was waking up at 4. Out the door at 5. I wouldn't get home until 530-6. Most days I was too worn out to go but I made myself. By time I took my pre workout and walk to my apartments gym. I was awake again and ready to roll. It's a different for you since you have a kid. I would go straight to the gym as soon as I got home. If I sat down it was game over. Especially if it was a hot day and I came into the AC house. Just do what ever you can to pump yourself up. For me I'd listen to some good music from my iPod on the way home and while I got ready for the gym.
