    new personal best!

Today at 215 lbs I finally hit 400 pounds on the bench press and broke my previous best (385 good/ 390 sloppy). Its not a great bench as I didn't come close to double bodyweight but the point is the threads I started about the close grip bench press and bench press and the methods discussed will improve your bench.....period! My next goal is to achieve 405 at 200.

Thanks guys..... I really enjoyed the PL training over the winter and despite being sick for a month with bronchitis I made some good gains.

Thank you, .....horrible winter! I got sick about 6 weeks into my cycle and thought I was dying. Can't believe how this sucker lingered on for so long.

Exactly. It was some virus and everyone had it. Just kept passing it around. I got mine from little 2 yo I volunteer with. Little sick toddlers nothing but germ breeders.

Glad it's behind us!!! Hello spring!

Lol...... I am def NO powerlifter. My squat and DL aren't bad for a BB but I would prob be put to shame in a meet.
My DL at best is 500 or maybe a Tad more and my squat I am guessing in the high 400's. I will def be up for another straight PL routine but I need a change (my joints are demanding it) I am glad I hit my bench goal despite some setbacks.

Dude with a 400 bench that's a 1300 total and in the 198 class 1475 is raw elite. You're not far from bein elite lol. You're competing against yourself in a meet moreso than against others IMO unless you're planning on goin for titles. Either way good luck, get healthy, an hit it hard.

Thanks bro, tbh I never gave it much thought. The gym I go to is a PL gym and I knew I had my work cut out for me because it was ALL together different then just BB. I def have a new enthusiasm in lifting and enjoy the PL side of it.

There are gyms specifically for BB or PL? In the continental US?

Also way to go on your PR Buster I was off for a while so I'm reading all the older threads.

There are still some non corporate gyms around that are considered PL gyms or BB gyms.
