    Training on a calorie deficit

Currently trying to cut some body fat so im eating roughly 500-700 cals under TDEE. How do you guys train on a lower calorie diet? Do you still train heavy to try to preserve muscle but lower the intensity as to not "over train"? (I.E. drop sets, forced reps)

The same as when on a surplus. I do HIT style training (which is basically drop sets/forced reps/little breaks) and I'm on a 400 - 500 caloric deficit at the moment. It is hard and tiring since I have less energy, but I can get it done by moving my carb intake nearer to my workout rather than evenly throughout the day which is what I would do when maintaining/surplus.

About a year ago I was following a 5x5 routine and when cutting I found that yes my strength did decrease, but that was to be expected and when I began eating at maintenance/surplus the strength came back relatively quick.
So don't fret too much if you're losing strength. It'll come back

yes, i continue training heavy, add HIIT. i would say nothing changes, maybe work outs become more intensive.

I was doing HIT style training as recommended by Marcus but I havent been since I started to cut. I thought maybe I would be putting too much strain on my body without having the extra calories. Thanks for the info I will go back to HIT.

I'm cutting natural right now and i'm eating 200-300 below maint. with little to no carbs in my diet trying to spare as much muscle as possible and it's been working great for me down 4 lbs in a months time.. I train low volume while i'm cutting and don't do cardio seems to work for me...Basketball season is over and everyone is so amazed at how i barely practice much anymore haha who gives a Sh*t i'd rather be able to track how many calories i'm burning better

I go hard in the gym whether i'm cutting or trying to gain weight. In a cutting, I concentrate most of my carb allowance on the before and after workout meals.

When cutting for me......my training window is smaller so I have to focus on keeping the rest relatively short and not get hung up on performing to many sets ie..bench 10/8/8/6.....and move on. I personally like the 10-6 rep range for a cut. I will throw some super sets at the end when doing accessory and fully warmed up.
