    Dedication and motivation

Was thinking about this earlier. Random things just come to mind and I figured I'd thread it uo.
Was thinking about training / wkingout in general compared to any other hobbie or whatever someone may participate in regularly. But it seems like training or workingout stands alone since it's not just the action of a session but rather extends into a long term life style. And day in and out it all revolves around A Healthy lifestyle.

I'm speaking for the hardcore I guess and not just the weekend warriors..that is all

I've thought about the same thing Marsoc. Why would a person put themselves through the pain and just plain old hard work day in and day out for pretty much nothing but self satisfaction? And the only thing that comes to mind is "drive". To do what we do for months and years for no monetary compensation just amounts to having the drive to progress, improve and reach goals. I've been working out/training for over 40 years. I've been sore and just hurt for months from various injuries. But like others I didn't quit. I may have taken some time off or backed off a little but I came back. The goal was to get back to where I was and progress further.
Hopefully this doesn't sound too cheesy but I believe training teaches you how to reach goals in life. It can become part of your mental make-up. The people I know who are consistent in the gym are pretty successful people in life. They aren't rich but they do what they want and seem happy. I know my mental health is much better when I'm in the gym and lifting heavy.
For some it may be a hobby and that's ok too. At least they are doing something rather than just being a couch potato. For me training is a part of my life. And I don't want to ever quit.

Weight Training is number two sport on my list of sports falling behind Track and Field....my theory on these two.

In a North American weight lift meet or track and field contest you compete as a team and group score

    BUT

When it is your turn to perform it is a one shot, one push, one spotlight on you. Which teaches you one of the greatest secrets of life.

    You only compete against yourself.

You find those who excel at other sports that are not the above never quite figure it out that all the cheerleading, yelling, loud noise making is jack shit. It is focus and self responsibility that wins the game of life....and you delevop those via self competition. Inch by inch, scraping and clawing for the least little gain.

Compete against yourself.you will never go wrong.

I do it for the satisfaction man. I bust my a** at work, at my relationship, being a great friend, pretty much everything in life. The only thing that actually shows me a difference is lifting.

U can be sad, mad, upset, anything but ones u hit the gym life seems to stand still and u leave feeling good good about what u have achieved that day.
