    2 week deload?

Recently I’ve noticed my joints have been achy and started giving me issues on certain lifts. I do strengthening exercises to try and keep them smooth and as strong as possible. I’ve got a deload week coming up and I’m giving serious thought about extending that to 2 weeks. Any advice/ insight would be appreciated. Is this overkill for a deload, will I see any added benefit from an extra week of lighter activity, or will it set me back.

Do a week of proper deload then assess. Theres no need to make a decision now
But no, I do not think taking 2 weeks will be detrimental in the grand scheme

You’re right, thanks for the advice. I tend to over analyze at times and try to be to well planned.

Only time I have incorporated a 2 week de load was before a competition to peak on that one day. Other than that, a 1 week de load was normally sufficient and this was done every 8 weeks I'd say, on average. Good on you for realizing that you need a de load and I'd say start with the one week and you'll find that is probably enough. Can always extend further after that week is over if you feel you still need it but no point planning that out this early.

In the future do planned deloads even if you do not feel like you need them! This is important for strength training or any training for that matter so your joints and CNS can recover and injuries are avoided. An extra 5 days of de load compared to a nagging injury that can last months is a no brainer.

Listen to your body - it knows your biological clock better than some calendar with swimsuit models or puppies on it.
