Help me help my wife...
Hey guys.. I know how to workout for myself but I really don't know best method of attack to help my wife...
She's 39 years old
135 lbs. 5'7 4 kids
She has belly fat she really wants to focus on... the rest of her body to me is really nice.. maybe needs to drop bf slightly. Strong arms shoulders and back. Nice proportioned legs///calves. So the question is what sorts of things should she be focusing on? I would just weight train and lose weight because of gear being used.. She will be natural and she's a she. She eats a pastry each morning with her coffee and that's basically breakfast.... even I know that's gotta stop... she goes 7-8 hours without eating because she works so much at work... GM at food restraunt on her feet all day hustling. We are going to Hawaii in February and I really want this workout run to be encouraging for her, her last go at it was 18 days and then she stopped... I bet if she committed to 2 months of it she would have a harder decision to stop working out because she'd notice good changes.
Thanks for any help on coaching her... 50% cardio 50% weights? I don't know so please advise!

Work with her make it a team thing..be sensitive that she might be self conscious about her weight or going to the gym(women often are)be supportive..those are the main things to keep her going..
As far as training iam sure the ladies could give better advice but not knowing her level of fitness..start small, planks 2min*2 doesn’t seem like much but that’s a tough 2min for most..I would keep her with machines and body weight help her with form..
Body weight squats 3 sets 20 then one to failure
Push ups same thing have her do modified if regular is too hard
And assisted pull ups
Obviously cardio is a must
And of course the most important thing
Diet, you know?its 75 percent she can’t be eating pastry and expect to lose weight and live a healthy life..spiking Insulin hard in the morning also makes me hungrier all day..
Have her switch to a smoothie keep her protein high to reduce catabolism and encourage multiple healthy snacks (almonds, protein bar)
And Whole Foods try to eat a healthy dinner together..with your encouragement and not being too negative.she should gain affinity for training the same way you do

It doesn't matter what kind of exercise she does as long as she enjoys it.
What's the best training program ? The one she will follow.
What's the best diet ? The one she'll eat.
It doesn't matter where the activity comes from - she could do 90% cardio 10% weights. She could do hot yoga and spin classes. Do NOT hand her a program and babysit her. That is a recipe for disaster.
She wants to eat pastry in the morning? Then let her. That's not a battle to fight. Buy her espresso flavoured protein and have her make protein smoothie instead of coffee to go with the shake. Starting off with you can't eat this, you have to eat that is going to ruin her relationship with food and self esteem.
Hire her a trainer to go over the basics - she'll quickly discover what type of activity she likes. Maybe she will realize she doesn't like weights and would rather do Kayaking or Hiking. A kayak is cheaper than a gym membership long term.I no longer check my inbox. If you PM me I will not reply.

If she's able to follow it, a Keto style diet can transforms a womans physique in record time. Throw in some cardio and weight training and she will be blown away by the results.

Wow thank you all for such great replies!! I think she and I are getting excited to startup the gym together.. I like all your ideas about keeping it simple and enjoyable, you're right about that... That's why i only go to the gym for 1 hour each workout now a days.... I told myself I can get in great shape of 1 hour weight training (I used to always do 2 hours.. ) Now it's so much more enjoyable to me and sometimes I'll go for only like 25 minutes! lol I still call it a workout and a success. Thanks again ^^^^^ I will keep checking back here to re-read the good info!
