    Vertical leg press

I am planning to build a "diy leg press attachment" for my squat rack. I've sketched out some plans from my own noggin and other online posts. The way I'm planning it would allow me to do a few exercises with it like calf raises, standing calf raises, hack squats, leg presses, etc. Basically, anything that operates with a lever arm.

All that said, and I know what you are thinking: "damn, that Cylon357 is one sexy mf'er", keep your eyes up here, because my question is coming:

are vertical leg presses as bad for you as "they" say?

The vertical leg press works the hamstrings!

Is it great equipment and can still take up less space in your home gym!

Yukon fitness makes one, not too expensive. might give you some ideas.

I think it's 300. I have spoken with them previously and same as my experience with Powertec, the prices are lower if you speak with a sales person. (At least before the pandemic)

    Good luck.

Kel has one (a Yukon I believe) and I'm pretty sure he loves his. I opted for a Yukon 45° leg press, but I think the vertical may actually be better in regards to back support.

I know it's an older thread, Cy, but just in case you were still looking at leg presses.

Yeah it's all good! I pushed pause on that particular project, but will definitely take the inspiration!

Love my vertical press. Takes up half the space and you need half the weight of a 45 degree sled. Whether you work more quad or hams is simply up to how you position yourself and control the bend in your knee. Great for calves as well.
