    Dumbell vs Barbell presses

the time I work out at the gym, there's normally not anyone there to spot me (I don't like benching without a spotter) How much time am I wasting by trying to replace that with dumbell presses? Or can I get (close) the same gains by variations on the dumbbell press?

    thanks

i actually prefer dumbell over barbell. at least for now. you'll notice you can't do as much weight, but that's because...well, i don't know why, but someone else will explain that. it's also a different motion b/c you're having to stabilize 2 separate weights instead of just 1 connected with a straight bar.

don't be scared to ask a trainer or even an older man to spot you when you do 135 on bench

    Key...you're being a meanie!!!

I LOVE dumbells and would rather do dumbells ANY DAY. You can really work to flex each pec at the top and work the muscle much better IMO. Bar's mess with my shoulders too much.

i'm just playin, no harm intended. also, change up your workouts every so often just to get a different motion in. like do dumbbells instead of barbells, or vice versa.
