I prefer to do military presses in front. It isolates the front deltoids without involving your back as much as behind the neck does.

To the front with both barbell and dumbell. I have a front right shoulder that will act up if I do too much behind the neck stuff. I can still get away with dumbbell tricep extensions that are behind the head but its questionable. The shoulders will bite you in the ass as you get older, better to be a little more conservative with them.

I stick to DB press...IMO it's safer and places less stress on the rotator cuff muscles. I've personally had my best gains sticking to DB's - but i do toss in military to the front, sometimes on the smith machine to mix it up every few weeks.
