stressing breathing
i just want to stress brething to all you guys really quick. I know I try really hard to get my breathing during lifts just right but there is always that second or so on big lifts were i end up holding my breath anf pushing. This is BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD. Especially if you are tall and skinny built this is bad. I just recently tore a hole in my lung. I had just picked up the pace in my workout routine starting a 4 month hardcore stretch bulking up. I tore a hole in my lung not while i was working out but later. My doc said the lifting probably stretched the lung to the point were it was about to tare and later i took one deep breath to rip it open. Now i cant lift more than 10 pounds for six weeks. Kinda sets a guy back.

**** sorry to hear that happened to you bro. Hope your recovery is quick. Yes, breathing properly while lifting is very important.

That's kinda weird to result from weight lifting. I have heard of it coming from endurance athletes seen when they cough up blood. It's cuz the pulmonary system has to take everything the heart pumps out. so going from a cardiac output of 5L/min to 40L/min is a lot of stress.
But with weight lifting, i heard the problems are more likely to happen in the heart where the val salva manuever will cause backpressure on the bicuspid and tricuspid valves.
