I am currently 5'9 1/2 and weigh 185-190. I want to workout my heart but I also do not want to drop any weight. How much cardio should I do a week ? Maybe run a mile every other day ?

well according to many the best way to burn stored fat is to do cardio at 65% of your max heart rate on an empty stomach in the AM, which equates to moderate type cardio on an empty stomach..if diet is in check you wont lose muscle weight..just fat, which IMO is a pretty good thing.
i have been doing cardio at 65% HR and it does burn fat well, but lately i have been wanting to strengthen my heart too, so i do interval training and get the best of both worlds. currently i walk for 3 to 4 minutes then run for a minute or two then repeat, always repeat...
