Working w/ Animals/Nature
I've always found animals and nature awesome. Like a marine biologist, working with bears, and stuff like Steve Irwin. What exactly are they called? Except for marine biologist obviously.
What are other amazing jobs that involve animals and the wild?
Is anybody here involved with any of that?

i work on a golf course that is protected by the Audobon society and there are deer everywhere and a few black bear....so hands off wildlife work you could say....deer sightings probably not so rare for some of the northerners but i grew up in Fla and mostly city, so kind of a nice perk for me

i would rather work with animals instead of people any day.

on the other hand, being with wildlife and working with bears and studying them and whatnot...stuff like that I love...but the pay is rather shatty...
It feels like theres a point where money plays a role, but at where I stand, Im toren into 2....I need help.

If you go into the conservation field then your not going to have huge paychecks. A wildlife and parks officer is always a good job, you could make and ok living at it. The main reward other than the work itself is benefits and retirement from the state. Assuming your state isnt bankrupt and doesnt cut your pention. Lastly you could be go through school and get your PhD and be a researcher, after you get tenure at a University you could make an ok living.
I have a good buddy that is getting his PhD in Avian Conservation. I have a couple other buddies that are wildlife and parks officers and they both wouldnt do anything else regardless of money. They both really enjoy their jobs, the both say they dont see it as a job but a passion that the fortunately get paid for.“If you can't explain it to a second grader, you probably don't understand it yourself.” Albert Einstein

I have worked with captive wild animals for almost twenty years. Any wild animal you can name, I've probably worked with. Bottle raised dozens of tigers, lions, few bears... Saddle broke a southern white rhino. I have lots of stories. They are awesome, fascinating creatures. It is some of the hardest work you will ever do. The whole time, I had to keep a job at a bar, because there is NO money in it.
Wanna work with animals? It's easy, go to your local zoo and ask about volunteering programs. It won't take long before you get some actual hands on work, and you don't have to quit getting the paycheck that you are accustomed to. Trust me, you will like it, but don't quit your job. Volunteering is just as rewarding as working there. Too bad you can't make a living at it.

Do what you really enjoy, even if you only make a modest living.
For most people, it's much more fulfilling than being unhappy with lots of money.
