Use Winzip or Winamp to compress and password the file.

I use a file encryption tool called AxCrypt. With it you can right click on a file and encode/decode from Windows Explorer.

That link you gave, I skimmed it over again.

"WinZip 9.x introduced the AES encryption. ZipPassword supports AES encrypted zip archives, however the search speed is very slow (due to the encyption scheme). It means that you can recover very short passwords only. We suggest that you use the dictionary attack with such archives. You can download additional dictionaries from here."

8-10 letter password is what I use for everything, have fun trying to crack that

we use it almost exclusively, however the library that you build is almost as important, progressive lists and what not..

those encryption software are very iffy. Usually after your OS is toasted for whatever reason...the files are never able to be accessed again. Best bet is to hide in the windows directory in some out of the way place and put your dirty laundry there. Small hidden winzip password protected 20 folders in usually does it for me.

Have you guys heard of TureCrypt?
    http://www.truecrypt.org/
What do you think of that. I really like it, its open source btw.

The passwords that I use are usually ridiculously long and the only place they are stored are in my head.

File Protector is the most unsurpassed password protect files I’ve been used for a years. It allows to put to the sure sensitive file or personal file that do not have to be viewed from people not endorsed to the files. This software seems to good but recent studies say that even encrypting files can’t secure your data.
