They became an even better team after the loss, and at the time they played Oklahoma in the National Championship, they could have beaten any team in the country.
So yes, Florida deserved it more the Utah, who DIDN'T PLAY ANYBODY. Utah pulled out the game against a depleted and demoralized Bama team who was missing their star left tackle (the anchor of the offense) and consequently had only 2 O-linemen in their usual starting positions. Bama came out flat in that game, and Utah showed up intent on pulling the upset against a big boy team and proving themselves. Utah was the better team that day, I'll admit that. But Bama probably would have beaten them 9/10 times.
Other than his one game, who the hell did Utah play to prove that their record wasn't simply the result of a decent team playing a cupcake schedule? Go on, name someone.
I'm so sick of hearing people bitch and complain about second rate programs not making the championship game. They're are several in the top 10 and even the top 5, is that not enough? Florida will destroy Cincinnati and I wish Boise State and TCU would play someone besides each other so that people would see them exposed (Boise State at least) and shut the hell up.
On the subject of Texas vs. Alabama... I'm not gonna say that I'm not nervous about this game, but I do believe with all my heart that Alabama is the better team and SHOULD win fairly easily.
Honestly, I'm glad we're playing Texas and not TCU, because TCU scares me more. The reason being that we've seen what Texas can and can't do. TCU plays against nothing teams, but blows out everyone they play, so we don't really know how good they are.
