Sleep Paralysis
So i'm not sure if this has been discussed here before, but has anyone experienced sleep paralysis? Goddammit i hate it when it happens. It always feels like there's 1000 pounds of weight sitting on my body. Experiencing it is pretty freaky.. sometimes it will happen 3-4 times in a night...
Some people say it has to do with demons but i don't believe any of that bs.

sleep patterns really interest me, but you may need script for some meds to get you sleeping longer. If its happening many times your never leaving REM sleep because you wake up often, you need some stage 4 bruh.

I dont get it too often, but when i do... its sooo messed up. I can hear everything, yet i cant move or make any noise whatsoever... or even open my eyes. But it feels like something is holding me down. Maybe thats what it feels like when someone is in a coma? I know some people can actually hear eveything when their in a coma.... maybe it feels the same lol... i dont know...

I had this happen to me a few months ago. Scared the crap out of me and I just tried to forget about it cause I thought I was crazy. I felt like a giant was pushing me down onto the bed and then after about 30 seconds I snapped out of it.

Yeah when it happens to me I can hear everything, I'm completely aware, but I can't move whatsoever, can't make a sound, blink my eyes, nothing. When I was a kid I would try to scream to get someone's attention, but nothing. I would try to focus all my energy, then jerk my body and I would literally jerk myself out of it. It's weird, when there is a tv or radio playing, when I manage to come out of it the sound is seemless, so it's not like I was dreaming it.

I fell asleep with my arm above my head one time. I've had it happen plenty of times, but this time my arm felt completely dead. It seemed like it took forever to get feeling back in it. I was freaking out like I was going to have to have my arm amputated. That was pretty scary.

That is so crazy you guys trying to scream. I try to do the same thing, especially if I know someone is around. All my energy and might is to try and muster up a scream so someone will come and wake me up. I know I am asleep at the time, but I just want to be waken up so that the feeling of powerlessness goes away. Man I hate when this happens.

Yup, same thing for me as a kid. I remember it clear as day except sometimes I had the out of body experience also where you can see yourself and I remember being able to float into other rooms of the house.
I remember trying to scream and I could do NOTHING... After a while I could whisper then all of the sudden everything worked again.
Ive never had it as an adult.

i use to get it alot,, usually right before my usual wake up time,, its suks cus it feels so freaky. I use to get panicky and my heart would feel like it was about to explode. I would try wiggling my toes or hands and take big breath and eventually i would pop outo of it.

I had no idea that this happened to anyone else. I've never mentioned it to anyone either.
Exactly as you have described: Frozen stiff and feels like someone has rolled a 55 gallon drum of water on top of you; can't move, can't yell no matter how hard you try and then it just goes away.

This has happened to me aswell but it was from laying on my arm. It felt completely dead. I couldn't even move my fingers and I kept twisting my torso to get my arm to swing so the blood would circulate lol. I'm sure it would have looked pretty funny if someone saw me.
Does anyone twitch while sleeping. I'll twitch sometimes so hard my whole body comes off the bed. Normally happens right as I fall asleep. Just last night I punched the girl laying next to me in the nose. I had my arm on her chest and it twitched lol.

But for the most part, i read somewhere that your brain releases the hormones that keep you from acting out your dreams before you actually fall into a sleep. Its crazy how the body has the ability to paralyze itself

Yah I had it happen where I was asleep and half woke up (which is why it happens) and I was trying to make sense of it in my semi conscious brain so I thought it was a ghost holding me down and I was trying to scream but nothing came out and then finally my roomies said i let out a loud scream/moan. In the end I think I was just having that dream about dsm again :P

It's so messed up that I just found this thread... I just had sleep paralysis last night...
I get it all the time, and each time it's intense, scary and all like WTF !?!?
How about this one, where... you are in sleep paralysis, but your eyes are open, then like a BLINDING LIGHT.. REAL QUICK.. LIKE A FLASH and a VERY High Pitched, but not LOUD Scream is let out.. and bang you are out of the stupid sleep paralysis...
Or better yet... The worst is like you said, when you finally do snap out of it.. only to catch your breath for a second or two, just to fall asleep right back into it. AHHHHHHHH.. I hate it !!!!!!
Thought I was going insane until I read this post now, i know there are more sufferers of it...
I hope it doesn't happen again tonight...

That's actually a totally different thing than we are talking about. That is nothing more than you have cut off the circulation to that particular body part. We are talking about whole body. You are paralized, can not move at all, can not scream, yell or talk but you are aware of your surroundings.
