Great guns, my XD-SC9 runs flawless and is my daily carry piece.
The sub fits my hands if I use the grip extension with 16-round mags. But I carry it with the 10-round flush fit when I conceal.

Take some pics when you get it, I'm in the market for a new handgun for carrying. My Glock 23 .40 isn't my favorite weapon but I'm stuck with it at the moment.

I have both the XD-9 and 40cal. They both are great guns, but I have a lot easier time finding rounds for the 40cal.

I'm in a state where ammo is almost locked down.
If anyone needs to get hooked up with ammo, let me know.
And I have no problem at all getting it in my state at all.
I know who has what and has the best prices.
This is all legally ran sites BTW.
All state, federal, and local laws apply to the state you reside in.
Now, to the OP.
.40 cal over the 9mm.
Save the nine for target practice and the .40 for carry.
And get a shotgun for home defense.
Best

PS- After reading this it sounds like I am selling ammo, I AM NOT SELLING AMMO, I JUST KNOW THE SUPPLIERS, AS I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS MY ENTIRE LIFE.Last edited by TITANIUM; 01-17-2010 at 10:31 PM.

I was going to pretty much say this ^^^ but wanted to add a few things.
I have a friend who is involved in training people on firearms for a living and he has shot 10k rounds of .40 though his XD like 30k 9mm and replaced only things that tend to wear out on the 9mm. Nothing every broke, they both shoot straight as the first shot. I have had great success with these guys myself also. I find them very easy to pickup and be able to hit a target with.

I just purchased the Newest of the New Springfield XD(m) 3.8 9mm 19+ 1 ... IMO ... I own lots and lots and lots of Firearms... but this one, for Some Reason is just my all time favorite Semi-Auto Hi-Cap Pistol, She shoots Perfect.. even up to 25yds out.. 50yds I am a little Ehhh with it.. but still we are talking Half A Football Field for chrissakes.. but My GOD I couldn't be happier.. It's my new CCW.
If some of you remember correctly I got a lot of flak for carrying 3 pistols with me.. Now. It's only 2. My Para NiteHog w/tritium night sights .45acp (10+1) and now my XD(m) 3.8 9mm [19+1] -- yes everyone, i have abandoned my KAHR P380. She stays at home now..
So I recommend to anyone in the market for a 9MM compact, with Hi-Cap.. Seriously.. this gun is so comfortable to shoot, it's accurate, it's pretty. (yes i called it pretty) and just an absolute perfect 9mm !! Go Get One !! Don't think.. just Buy!!

Me too, I've had an XD-45 for the past several years. Nice trigger, soft recoil, high capacity & extremely reliable. It's what the Glock should've evolved to. The mags are metal too (as opposed to metal lined plastic in the Glock), allowing the width to be a little narrower.
They're made in Croatia (Springfield imports them), a place where the people have been warring & killing each other for centuries. They know how to make an effective killing machine.

Im about to buy an XDM 40.
Nothing but great reviews...

I own 3 glocks, 2 M&P's, a kimber and a CZ. The XD's I have never been intersted. No reason why they just dont catch my attention, still great guns though.

You are right.. I have one.. just don't use it too often.. thinking of getting rid of it.. HAH... J/K .. I never get rid of any of my guns (unless they are GLOCK'S) i hate them. I just don't like the angle of the grip (hurts my wrist during repeated firing) so.. UNLESS I can somehow get a transferable g18 (Full Auto) -- Highly unlikely-- I will Never buy another Glock. And I will be getting rid of all glock's except my Converted .50gi

I felt the same way about glocks for a long time. I hated the grip feel and angle. Then one day I got the chance to buy a G19 for a very very good deal and I bought it with the intension of just selling it for profit. I put a few hundred rounds through it for fun and than picked up my H&K usp and now the rolls had changed. The glock now felt natural and not the H&K. I would like the chance to shoot a compact xd however.

That's why the one hand gun of the year.
Remember, Glocks simplicity is it's sum of it's parts.
It has very few parts, that means less things to break or malfunction.
Now, with modern technology and manufacturing, the guns are dead reliable for the most part.
I'm waiting for S&W to release it's sub .45 M&P.
Have the full size.
Best polymer pistol I have ever shot.
And that says alot.
Best

I love shooting M&P's. I dont carry them though as I find my M&P FS .40 a little big, and I like my Glock 26 and Walther PPS better for carrying vs M&P9c. I however went and looked at some XD's in compact size and I wouldnt mind turning a .45 compact into my home defense gun.

At one point I had a Glock 9mm/M&P.40/XD.40
I Shoot in competition and at 25 yards with winclean ammo the glock held the tightest group.
The M&P is my favorite for self defence. Some of its features make it very reliable.
(oh yea, I had a barstol barrel on my glock, thats why it shot better)
I sold the XD.
I had no use for it

If I go with a 9mm it's got to be a subgun...
My favorite toy, an MP40. Or my Uzi. Neither aren't very concealable but heck, what a rush!!!

Bought a Springfield XD .45 a few years ago. I like it cause it's light and will stop a intruder dead in his tracks. Which reminds me I need to take it out for a cleaning.

Not on the approved bull sh*l list to sell.
Fvcking liberal politicians.
Who are they to tell me what I Can own and what I can't own.
It's not a frickin privilege to own a firearm, its a GOD DAM CIVIL RIGHT!
Why are we in need of a useless fvcking licensing system that has been proven a utter failure and costs a fortune to run?
Or a safety list or roster?
EEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

I used to live under the boot of the N.J. Republik....I moved and now I've been proudly living in the free country of PA for over 15 years. I can buy a gun here with my driver's license. And also own machineguns, suppressors, short-barrelled rifles & easily have a permit to carry all of the aforementioned. It's great, but the existing federal laws still piss me off, since what part of "shall not be infringed" do they not understand?
Move out into a free-state if possible! It can be easier said than done I understand, since for me it was only a few miles to move from Jersey to PA. What a stark difference in cultures & laws.
I sometimes find myself buying a new gun just to piss a liberal off, heheh

I have an XDm .40 best semi auto handgun i have ever owned. It is a bit large to coneal though, looking at getting a 9mm XD in the compact. If you are planning to use it for coneal get the xd, if just for home defense or open carry the XDm.

Yeah Philly keeps trying to pass thier own gun control but they keep getting "shot down" because of the state pre-emption laws (cities/towns cannot have thier own laws that supercede state law)....yeah, they're are plenty of problems here, the commies in power are always trying to erode the constitution. Bloomberg is a dirty rat too! Much of that coalition is falling apart - and Virginia spanked him good for sending his agents there illegally, commiting straw purchases :-)

Sorry, I hijacked your thread Art Vanderlay...The Springfield XD is a superb gun, check out the numerous gun forums. You'll find almost no "negative press"
It's down to what feels most comfortable for you. I too, found that the micro was too small but it was regarding the Glock 9mm series (model 17, 19 & 26). So I went with the Glock compact (the model 19) and it's perfect for me.
In the warmer months I find myself carrying my S&W 638 .38 spl though, smaller & balls-out reliable. Less ammo though, but at least I got something in case of an emergency.
