Quick stupid question for anyone who's done a college thesis..

I've been waiting 2 hours and need to get this shit done so I can sleep. My professor usually gets back quick but I figured Id just ask here cause I'm getting too impatient and a lot of you guys have went to school and what not.

WTF is a "reference list"? I'm use to the reference lists you make when you write a paper, then cite the references. Thats not what this is.

Its the first week and it says on the syllabus that a "working reference list" is due and 5 articles. I have the articles, I don't understand what a reference list might be.

Anyone whos maybe done a thesis before can explain this? I'm losing sleep by waiting for this biatch.

Yeh thats what I thought but it can't be, because we just started collecting data this week.
(didn't even start writing our papers yet)

I think he wants us to take the articles we have, and write them up on paper somehow. I really honestly have no idea but it just can't be a bibliography. Well I'll let you know whenever he gets back.

Umm yeh, but you create accounts to come on a forum and harass strangers.

So either way, you're still a loser.

You were right thats all it was.

We did something last semester called a "reference note page", which we had done early in the semester, the first week actually, and I thought thats what he meant. Because we didn't do the actual reference page till literally the last day of class it was due. (I have the same professor for my thesis this semester)

He just got back and said just to do a apa styled reference page, so thats what he meant. I was confused because of the timing #1, and #2, it takes less then 5 mins to do a reference page so it was weird to just have that as our only assignment.

    Thanks anyway.

Like MS said, I believe you require a Bibliography, a collected account of all the work you researched for the Thesis, whether you cited it or not. Remember that this has to be in alphabetical order as well.

EDIT: What referencing style do you guys use in the United States? Here we use the "Harvard Referencing" style (UK).

APA, MLA, Vancouver style to a lessor extent. In the science journals they typically have their own specific format for citation.
