Fibromyalgia Question

Hello everyone, I've talked to Lovbyts some about fibromyalgia pain and wanted to bring up the topic for everyone to maybe gives some ideas/answers. Currently I'm taking Vitamin D3 - 5,000 iu a day, 1000 mg of Magnesium a day, Fish Oil, a multivitamin and also a digestive enzyme. I believe my fibromyalgia started within my stomach and than just eventually spread to my whole body. Around October of 2014 I started having terrible stomach pain, I had an EGD and a colonoscopy done with nothing found but a little bit of GERD symptoms. Than in January of 2015 is when the pain of what I felt in my stomach just went to my whole body. I've had several tests done and after all tests the doctors came up with it being fibromyalgia. My diet is what I've changed the most which I've cut out sugar, dairy, gluten and anything else I'm sensitive to. I was wondering if anybody knew of anything that might help with fibromyalgia? I've read HGH studies have been done and did help some, but I don't think my doctor(s) would be on board with that.

Pregabalin and antidepressants, along with regular exercise.

I know a few it helps with this issue. I rec high CBD strain to avoid mental effects, its what i prefer anyways.
I am a big advocate of this and done just as much research on it as aas (and thats a fair bit IMO)
maybe you will find some helpful info here> google "granny storm crows list 2015" its got alot of med ref in there and research for many conditions. blows my mind how much this plant can do and the recent ACTUAL research, even protecting braincells and Alzheimer research for eg... wish it didnt even have thc/ mental buzz so the people would STFU about its stereotypes.

No. But fibromyalgia is usually linked to depression, inactivity, and poor diet/lifestyle. Pregabalin (Lyrica) is the best drug for actual nerve pain.

Sweet, I will check CBD out since I'm in Colorado and can get access to a lot of that! I did try a high thc strain but it made me feel like I was losing my mind and hearing voices, weird stuff like that lol.

Pregabalin is Lyrica, right? Oh, I see further down you said yes it is.

Ive used it and it worked for only a couple of weeks. :( I though it was great at first but quickly seemed to stop. I have a couple friends that had the same results. I think it may help with some of the nerve pain for the feet. I just started using it yesterday again (my stockpile) to see if it will help with the foot nerve pain again because Ive been noticing it's getting worse again and nothing seems to help.

My diet is like KelKels Cardio. Non existent right now. I don't eat a lot of trash or sugar though but I'm sure it could be cleaner. I'm just not that disciplined. I was hoping the wife would help me get on track with that but it was a very poor plan on my part.

You should still try the lyrica. Everyone is different and maybe it will help. I know if I have not taken it for a while it sure helps me sleep better like last night. I actually got close to 8 hrs.

Oh good bro! I was looking into a latex type mattress for sleep. I've read that is what a lot of people that have fibromyalgia use.

Make sure it's firm. One thing made mine 10x worse was a memory foam mattress. I've tried several times and each time after a week it got worse. Firm is much better. Lack of movement like on memory for a soft mattress makes all the joints hurt more.

All lyrica did for me was give me extremely nasty nightmares, went through withdrawal after only taking for 1 week, and did nothing for my neuropathy.

Gabapentin would be a safer alternative.

Look into B6 hyaluronic acid and niacin(real niacin not the flush free crap) to help support healthy nerves. Also look into TMG a diatery supliment that facilitates the production of SAMe in the brain,(among other things)which in turn increases your serotonin production.

Yes just make sure it dosnt say niacin(inositol hexanicotinate) in its ingredients and just says niacin only. It will be more expensive but the flush will promote blood flow to all the tiny nerve endings in your skin. Start slow with it, the flush can be unnerving if you aren't used to it. Start at night so you can sleep through it then after a week or so do one dose in the morning and one at night. Your body will get used to the flush after a while. I take 500mg in the am 500mg at lunch 500mg at dinner and 1000mg at night. It took a while to aclimate up to this dose but it has helped me tremendously with nerve pain and has also dropped my cholesterol a few points.

We've talked about Gabapentin, we've both used it. Same results as lyrica. Works for a short time. I still use it off and on also.

Interesting g about the niacin. I'll look into that also. I'm not sure what type I have but I k ow it's jot 100% flush free because I have to break them in half and split up over several hours or my ears and head are burning g. LoL

Ahh, I've never heard of either of those. I just have fibromyalgia and than I have dizziness like everyday, but not vertigo, just like I'm drunk and off balance all the time. I'm trying to do vestibular therapy for it, but it's not working yet! It's all a pain for 26 yrs old!

The bolded worries me, especially since you are suplimenting with magnesium. Magnesium causes your body to purge water and an imbalance can cause dizziness from low blood volume. Are you taking it under a dr supervision? If so have you told them about the dizziness? please if you haven't brought this up to your dr do so immediately! This can be serous and should not be shrugged off.

Well my chiropractor put me on the magnesium, and yes my rheumatologist and neurologist have both seen my supplement list and never questioned it before. The dizziness occurred before I started supplementing with magnesium, I may quit it for a while to see if that helps any. What I've found helps the most is 5 HTP for some reason with my dizziness? Not sure exactly why. Yes, both doctors know I have the dizziness. My neurologist had me do a brain and neck MRI for it along with seeing a Ear, Nose and Throat specialist lol.

Does it happen more 30ish seconds after you sit up or stand up? If so, try clenching the muscles in lower body before you move to help keep the blood in your head as you change position. I would also have them test your blood pressure as you are squatting on the ground for 60 sec and then as you stand and 30 seconds after. If it is low blood volume there will be a sharp drop in bp after you stand.

We've checked that, and it didn't make any difference. The only time I don't feel a dizzy sensation is when I'm laying down, than I never feel it at all!

What would be the best thing to take for muscle cramps? My legs like to cramp up a lot especially after physical type work?

Hot bath with Epson salts helps also.

I think you already said you do but make sure you supplement with Vit D. Most of us dont get enough.

Magnesium deficiency is usually the culprit.

Yeah, I'm sill running vitamin d, I'm going to have a blood test done to see what I'm lacking, if I am at all.

Really dehydration is the culprit but low magnesium can exacerbate the problem. Add calcium water and as stated above magnesium for a quick fix, then mak sure you keep yourself hydrated daily so you don't get to the point of leg cramps.

I switched to Dead Sea salts. Epsom salts so 2008. :P

i would also rec 2g taurine ed. great not just for that but many other things. its cheap in bulk powder too. i use it daily

My doc told me to drop fish oil, said the risk of it being rancid is higher than any value it could offer.

I've never had the type mixed with vitamin e, nor mentioned it to him.

My GP is a trt advocate and user, so every time I see him we talk about it. Did a quick run down of sups to which he said cut fish oil. I took away it was more of distribution issue than a product issue.

They basically all include vitamin E, listed as "mixed tocopherols".
