Herbes: is there a cure for it?
hey fellas.... about five 6weeks ago I notice few pimples around the head of penis. Though there was no pain I knew that' was absolutely abnormal--. Annoyed with my lifestyle I rush to see a doctor--a primary physician...and he said I either contracted a virus known as HPV or HSV.... based on those symptoms he observed, he prescribe I use podofilox which work on clearing those rubbish off my penis.
Now my dick is basically clean again, I'm a little concern because I read somewhere that herpes or the virus that causes them is uncurable and it is recurring, is that true and can someone out there explain to me more? is there vaccination for this disease? and what do I do from now onward.
My next appointment with doc is May 18th or 19 not sure..

No cure but years ago my friend told me of a tea that helped suppress it. Not sure if it's hippie bro science or not.

There's medication for this that keeps it in remission(for the most part)
The most commonly used medication is Valtrex! Look into it... I actually dated a girl for yrs and never contracted the virus - but you should never ever have sex if it flares(regardless of protection) but also, you should always use protection unless your married and knew b4 hand...

I'd follow up with an std test just to be sure it's the responsibility now! U don't want to infect others especially if u don't even know what u have?? Come on... Furthermore and more importantly, if u got something going on w/ ur junk u find out wtp is going on bro!
Thin skin? If ur like every male on the planet that thing has been beaten to death and back a millions times already, so yeah u may be tender!!

quick answer: YES, it is incurable.
another point, it's not transmitted by sex only. You can get it if you drink from someone's glass !
my wife got it on the lip from drinking in unclean glass (believe me, 99% of coffee shops don't know the word "hygiene").

I have a buddy who use to be a Medical rep for Valtrex and says it's good stuff. Usually will stop a breakout within a couple of days.
I remember reading a few years ago that pure oil of oregano was supposed to kill the herpes bacteria. I have no idea how true this is or not but you might want to look into it. There are a lot of natural stuff that works as good if not better than Rx. Most medications are or were synthesized or based from something natural at one time.
Most people have type 1 herpes. Cold sores.

It is probably not a real CURE but a lot of people say it works very well at suppressing the virus (not bacteria) and has several other health benefits.Last edited by lovbyts; 04-20-2016 at 05:56 AM.

SG2009 As others have said there is no cure for Herpes. Though I can give you some very good advice . I have had Herpes since the late seventies yes almost 40 years. What happens to me is it fills like I am getting poison oak yes it starts to itch. It is very important as soon as you feel this . For me, I take Acyclovir 400 mg 3x a day for 3 or 4 days. As long as you catch it right away ( the itch). Most of the time I will never get any blisters.
Now the hard part. You must in all circumstances tell anyone that you are going to have any kind of sex with . That you have Herpes. Even if it is a one night stand .You have to disclose this .Let them make the decision to go forward or not. At first, it is the hardest thing to do. That is the best advice I can give you. With meds and making sure you are on top of the symtoms after a wile, you will hardly notice.

I read somewhere that 80% of adults have herpes.
I do not think I have it? Never seen anything. Pretty much only pops up every few years, and non-life threatening.

unfortunately, i'm somewhat of an expert on this now...
HSV is herpes. there are two types. HSV-1 is oral herpes and is actually common for middle aged american adults. it can be contracted via kissing or sharing cups/utensils etc with a person that is showing symptoms (cold sores). it is not generally contagious if one isn't showing symptoms - although there is some debate on this point. once contracted it is incurable. but again, since it is common these days (>50% middle aged americans are infected), it isn't that big of a deal for most people (many never actually show symptoms).
HSV-2 is genital herpes and it is much more problematic. i don't know as many details about this, but op should get bloodwork done to see which one he has and deal with it appropriately.
HPV is a newer virus and is much more difficult to detect (i don't think there is a bloodwork based test). it is a serious virus for woman as it's been linked to cervical cancer. again... if you are concerned about it, you should see a specialist and get a clear diagnosis.

Women get a Pap smear to detect HPV. There is no test for men. There are many different strains, but some of them can lead to cervical cancer in women and the others can cause warts. It is estimated that nearly everyone who has had more than 5 partners in his/her life has had some strain of HPV. There is evidence stating that, as long as your immune system is strong, you can clear the virus within 2 years. Most people have (or have had) HPV, but most people never get symptoms (warts).

There is no cure but you won't know without a blood test. If you do have herpes look into the medication acyclovir. I get cold sores from time to time and this stuff stops it from ever showing up when you first start to feel the itching.
