Terrible generation - Lazy, entitled, etc...

Really growing tired of having to change my mindset to accommodate some folks today. I try to stay humble and understanding that many of the 20-something year olds today do not value having a job. Weekly, I see people apply for jobs and not show up to the interview. Or you call someone for an interview and their voicemail is so unprofessional it just turns you off. I'm seeing more and more kids/adults grow into their mid to late 20's and still living with Mom and Dad.

It's really quite sad. Some folks that we hire are on the job for mere weeks before they begin demanding things. Where is this coming from? It also seems that many are no longer motivated by money. I think this has everything to do with living with their parents for extended periods. I feel I am being forced to settle at times.

    Ugh. End rant!

I deal with it everyday. My last job there's was 5 of them, I ended up losing my job because of it. I left one on the side of the road, yelled so bad at one he had a nervous breakdown and the third I smacked his McDonalds in his face. My boss blamed it all on me when it was him (plus their parents) that made them think they were entitled. It's in real, I just pray there's some smart ones that understand reality that will one day lead. Or we are screwed.

No kidding. Sometimes I want to call their parents and see what went wrong in their upbringing. I've even (literally) had employees tell me they need to talk to their mom about schedule changes and what not. Just mind boggling!

From a teachers perspective, calling or talking with the parents too many times reveals that the kids are a result of that parenting unfortunately.

I damn near need a revolving door for these little fucks lately. They can't get out of bed, can't keep from partying too late, bitching, one little thing goes wrong and they have to go home, if they don't feel perfect they claim to be too sick to work, want to leave early for appointments: freaking haircuts?!@!! Whine and complain if somebody isn't treating them right.. claim zero responsibility for fuck ups, I've had 3 of them under 25 that claim to have BACK PROBLEMS! BULLSHIT! I wonder where they heard that excuse??!fatmommy? fatass dad?
Just fucking show up, get in the game, do your 8, give a shit about your work, and skate!

There ARE good ones out there, but they are the 5% or less.

I just love reading some of the job applications I get across my desk.
Here are a few reasons for leaving last job that I have seen on applications.
    1. Fired
    2. Fired for stealing shop supplies.
    3. Quit because I did not like management they were to bossy.
    4. Quit because they expected too much out of me.
    5. Quit no room for advancement in my position( this was a 19 year old kid)
    6. My favorite is Fired for not showing up to work but it was not my fault being I was thrown in jail.
These all came right of their applications.

Eh not so fast. Back issues have long been associated with the burdens of hard, manual work, but nowadays thing turned the way other and sedentary life has the become the main reason. As a result, more and more young adults in their 20s are already knocking at the doc's door with herniated discs from carrying groceries or travel bags or deteriorated cervical ribs from years of phone texting.

Lmao the kid I smacked was 21, he called his mom to pick him up from the job that day. She makes his lunch everyday, wakes him up with a cup of coffee and does his laundry. It is the parents fault.

Yes no responsibility for screwing up!

My niece was hitting her little brother so I told her stop being bad, so she got upset. Her mom takes her and says " your not being bad you just made a bad decision." My wife still is astonished and that was a year ago.

In Italy we have the highest % of adults living with parents. Truth is, a job here isn't enough to afford a home on your own, unless your happy with a basement w/o services.

What you lament however I believe is more related to defective parenting, and, not to sound like a sexist dick, especially maternal-only upbringing. You see these spoiled kids raised from mothers alone w/o paternal guidance, no enforced duties, only unconditional caring.

It's no wonder why they got that "just pretend" attitude. Totally untrained for life, but it's not their fault.

Yes I agree just by seeing parents in my kids school and then my kids telling them how they behave makes perfect sense.

I dont agree wirh this simply because my mom did it for me yet my dad (God rest his soul) was very strict , he taught me how to be punctual, respectful and have proper work ethic. Last month of his life when I asked him why he was so hard on me he simply replied "If I wasnt you wont be where you are in your life". that washed away all the complains I ever had for him.

Kids today are simply enabled by their parents. They can do no wrong as it's always societies fault, not theirs. They don't seem to have to work for things anymore and expect their parents to provide things like their first car, college, etc. Liberal institutions expousing political correctness is brainwashing young adults into thinking they deserve certain things without having to earn them.

I'll retreat to my safe space now.

The younger generation is entitled by society and social media. Everyone thinks they are owed something by their boss as if they are doing them a favor showing up to work. We are falling victim to our own success as a society.

it is absolutely gut wrenching the shit that goes on.

and calling the parents wont do a bit of good, they are going to be the same way.

they all need one thing and one thing only....their ass beat every hour on the hour for a good couple weeks.

Safe places, are we serious with this shit. WTF

yup...I have literally had dozens of temporary day labor workers on jobs that were hired for specifically for digging and manual labor that have walked off my jobs because they say they don't get paid enough to do work that is hard... WTH...One guy says to me " I'm not your bitch!! who do you think you are?"... I politely answered him.." I am your boss today and you ARE my Bitch!!" ehehhehh... but seriously the work ethic is pitiful for a large majority of "men" now a days. My job half the time is more like babysitting rather than running a jobsite. But hey, don't forget..' You are special...do whatever make you feel good and don't worry what anyone else thinks about you" [COLOR="#000000"] hah!!

It started going to hell when educators and coaches decided that everyone gets a trophy Win Lose or Quit.

I yell at them and they work hard for about 30 minutes. I cannot tell you how many I have had watch me work making the same pay as me and just fuck off. My advice is be ruthless and the cream will rise and the shit will sink. Not much cream left.

I remember when color TV, remote controls, Pong, Intellivision came out...heck I remember rotary dial telephones and when the only games that arcades had were pinball machines...watched Space Invaders, Pac-Man and Donkey Kong blow peoples minds...yeah convenience and the availability of advanced technology has completely destroyed the majority of self motivated hard working individuals and turned them into a bunch of self serving, lazy, anti social jerks...FYI... I don't consider social media being social...people here in Cali don't even respond if you say "good morning"... I can't stand that...have some common decency and say Hi at least!!!

I wouldn't let them not say hi. I will stand there repeating myself until they reply. We all wave at each other where I'm from. It doesn't mean I'm their friend it just means we aren't enemies.

Oh that is my biggest problem. In Canada they were thinking of just saying pass or fail instead of giving marks I gave principle ear full. Her reason was "we dont want to hurt their feelings"...Really? I rather have my sons feeling get hurt now so he learn how to work his butt off rather then when he is freaking 20 and close to have a break down cause life is tough

There's a reason for that . . . Not pissing off the student, so they don't complain to their parents, who then complain to administration and sometimes the school board, leaving the teacher or coach sh*t out of luck.

Well... I nearly beat the shit out of a concrete truck driver today that pulled up on our job with an attitude. Somehow he was the boss??? He will be replacing his chute and the plumbing going to his waterhose and he won't mouth the next patron of the company he works for lmao! He has no idea though. He wouldn't have been so important I'd I hadn't been wearing a loose hoodie but he sure can get in his truck fast when he needs! God forbid, if someone threatens to whip my ass they aren't going to back out and keep their pride. That's all they do these days is talk shit and turn me into one big erection ready to fuck shit up and then they run off. I know these chicken shits well and I can spot the ones that will press charges a mile out.

Believe it or not this has bled over into the Army. Young kids who think they shouldn't have to pass a physical fitness test or go to military schools to get promoted. Just give me give me give me. Makes me want to throw up. And here in New Hampshire we have all these ads running about how the government isn't doing enough to stop the heroin addiction problem. That al the addicts should be able to file for disability and get free treatment paid for by the tax payer. What ever happened to self control?

sadly, this fits me to the T. not happy or proud of where I am at. drugs really hindered my life..17 credit hours away from my bachelors degree in horticulture and turf grass management (I work on golf courses). It took me till I was 23 til I actually realized how big of a entitled, still on the parents tit, piece of shit I was/am. Currently working on being a more independent, responsible, 26 year old MAN (working on becoming a man).

You are honest in the things you say, I believe. I hope you stay straight scuba. The only way I have beat addiction is with replacement behavior. Feel like drinking a beer, drink a glass of milk instead. Feel like sitting down, take off running. I literally get the option to leave my work early every day and when I feel the weakness creeping up I shove it away and press on. I hope you succeed scuba, I like your honesty. Admittance is cool. Be strong brother.

These millennials and their "space places"... or when they get their feelings hurt, it's "harassment", demand "apologies", then they go and cry on social media... where do they learn this stuff????

Thanks bud. You literally have to change everything in order to succeed, like you were saying. That's why I got so heavy into lifting...which is amazing, because now I am actually CONSCIOUS about how I treat my body!! e.g.) adequate sleep, healthy foods (no more fast food, candy, bullshit foods), no smoking of any kind ever, no alcohol, vitamins, etc...
Along with recovery meetings, and working a solid program with a sponsor. The rooms have so much to offer, whether it be sound advice, friendship, or hell, even JOB opportunities. People love to see others do the right thing, and doing the right thing = GREAT LIFE!!

lastly, my relationship with my higher power is very important to me, and to my sobriety (lots of prayer)

    Have a good day dudes!

Story of my life all day everyday - one kid even went to a point to read the entire union book to quote page numbers (where rules were listed) when I said I was gonna write him up for bad performance. I was baffled - if this kid is smart enough to read, understand and present a rule to me then why not simply work hard?

All entry level jobs at my workplace are full of ethnic minorities now. Workers from certain countries have amazing work ethics.

I have to deal with a lot of lazy and useless people in general so there is nothing I disagree with here. However the level of greed and unwilling to do something to deserve the money is disgusting. Every business seems to be all about extracting money out of you and giving you shit in return. All of a sudden to get a nicely brewed coffee of good beans you are hi-so and have to pay $100 for a cup. This is not really the workers fault, the owner of the businesses don't even know about the product. It's not like they had a dream of making coffee or some type of food or cut hair after working said job for 10 years. They started up to make profit. They don't give a damn if you liked it, as long as they got your money. Same with government, it just wants to expand, get more taxes. It's like it is everywhere and I can't see it being specifically the younger generation.

So from this reality where people only see shit served to them from both private businesses and government is pure shit, where is this motivation going to come from? So we can spend 25-50 years paying off the right to own our own home? Who wants to be the cocksucker who works hard to exchange that money to people who will do a bad job on purpose?

Have to blame the internet and the mobile phone as the catalyst that started the downward spiral in societal norms. People have to much readily available information that it is destroying their attention spans. They need to be constantly stimulated or they just get bored. All this so called social media is killing the art of human conversations. You go out to pubs, restaurants, airports, shops etc etc etc and most people that are sitting together have their eyes glued to a fvcking mobile phone. They can not even interact anymore.

Not to mention mobile phones are killing peoples memories. Who remembers phone numbers anymore when the bloody thing does it for you. You don't even need to be a good speller because it does it all for you. Fvck even calculators are destroying basic mathematics. These devices are all helping to keep the people dumb and worried about what new device to buy when they should be worrierd about the bigger issues.

I refuse to use a gps becuase A: if the army taught me anything, cover your trail and B: the gps is all about switching your brain off and following blindly. Use a roadmap and remember street signs and landmarks.

Conclusion the mobile phone has made people lazier and lazier. Ironically i typed this on my mobile phone.
