What you thought steroids were vs Reality

When I was growing up I followed Mark McGuire, Canseco, Alex Gonzalez, Barry Bonds. They were all so much larger than life and it was common knowledge they juiced even before Canseco's book. I never wanted to juice, was a big guy, tall, good hair, no issues with women other than they were all cunts.

When it came time for steroids my thought was...

TBH my thought was, due to seeing the incredible size of guys, all steroids would be like Tren . Hard to control emotions but make you big quickly.

Test was not what I thought it would be. Way weaker than I expected. That was based on Barry Bonds. He put on 40 lbs in one offseason.

Anyone else come into the game and find it not as magical as you dreamed? This is withstanding potentials to HPTA. There has to be a negative to something as awesome as Steroids.

I found out that they aren't as dangerous as PSA's and all the propaganda against it made it out to be. I was terrified of it at first, even after seeing dozens and dozens of dudes doing it without much problem. None of them died, beat up women, got cancer or had a heart attack at 27.

What surprised me the most was finding out all the people who did steroids that you couldn't tell or would have never in a million years guessed did it.

I knew it wasn't a miracle drug, even 15yo I knew that as many I knew started DBOL at 14-15yo and blew up and went right back down to zero again.

I guess I thought orals were more liver toxic than they really are.
And I misplaced what were the true dangers.

At the first gym I started at 13 there was a diverse crowd so to say.
From biker gangs and bodybuilders to the average gym to be healthy folk.
I miss that place, very good atmosphere.
Even the occasional bank robber I once ended up in a crazy after party with when I was a little older. Good times.

I seem to have drifted off topic.

    Limited experience.

Everything good and bad about steroids....then take it down a notch or two. Now you have realistic expectations.

IME psychological sides pretty much nonexistent (With Test & Proviron ). Cannot speak for other compounds.

Or your goals are such that you have no need for them.
I know a lot juicers that one can't see are juicy.
But their goal is just that "crossfit" look for the summer while drinking each weekend.
I'm not one to judge, but if they gave the same effort as they do when juicing just a couple of months more each year, they'd look the same natty.

I'm not gonna judge, but I can say that they're playing with fire for very little reward.

It's amazing how much you can get away with.

Many people that train natty think there's a set bar in which of you have a physique better than that you must be juiced.
That bar can be set ridiculously low for some,
    or quite high by others.

Then there's a matter of how you present yourself as well.
I remember it easier before to really get away with it.
Now I know many people are just "yeah.." whatever I say.
But if they get to know me a little and think I'm a good guy,
then suddenly it's also more probable I'm not on anything,
cause in their mind juicers are moronic insecure assholes.

But at a gym, I get a lot of looks.
    I notice some myself;
But when my GF is with me she says both the men and women are looking more at me than her. Not sure I think she's totally right about that,
but I do think that if they talk about what they see then "roids" will be debated.

I've always thought of AAS as AR activators, each having peculiar structural and functional qualities, and nothing more.

I just meant that depending on what someone is taking it for. Since I was a baseball player there were a lot of dudes taking AAS. Test C seemed to be the popular one at the time. They didn't have overly impressive physiques, if they were walking around on the street you wouldn't think they were on.

Would it be accurate to say Test can only add an additional 10 pounds lbm?

Many different ways to train for your specific sport and that alone will depend on what compounds are or should be used! I played baseball(as you know) and I was surely lifting wrong for my sport - but never touched juice until almost 30

Everyone's different - plus diet is the biggest part of your optimizing gains along with a great training program

    cool topic,

the first memory i have of steroids was when i was around 6. a good friend of my fathers back when they were kids moved into my grandmothers apartment with her. He was a close family friend and his parents owned the complex. he and i played one time. i wrestled with him. well one night while my grandma was watching me he came in dressed up and he had two hot chicks with him. that was when i noticed how jacked he was. later my dad told me he was doing steroids because i probably said something about him looking like he-man or something.

in my mind i was like daaaamn. Power and women. he was a dumbass and ended up ruining his life by using all the worst recreational drugs. homeless etc. decades later he worked at target was ugly aged and had a huge gut. this was all before i touched any performance enhancer, or dedicated any time to lifting and eating right. i felt arrogant for the first couple of cycles, but now i realize its a trade off. natural you for enhanced you. a little piece at a time. after awhile the natural you goes away forever and the injections are required. i've also heard many stories about guys using juice and heroin.

something about juice attracts some addicts, or those with drug addiction tendencies are attracted to juice. i dont think it's the needles. i've had the opportunity to do all kinds of bad bad bad rec drugs, but never had the desire. i watched a lot of friends f their lives up a good bit. i dislike rec drugs, but it's the excess that gets people. i've got to take care that i don't over do it with the gear. especially if i'm thinking about TRT.

    sorry about going off topic

Oh hell yes, I probably even imagined them giving me a temper. My mother found out and I couldn't show any sort of frustration without it being pinned on juice, which was bull, I was twice the dick before.

All in all, when I started, I felt as if I was selling my soul to them. I soon found out that was all bs.

    Good thread btw.
I feel as though we all must have at some point just figured "aw, fuck it," right before that first injection.
It takes a certain amount of balls and mindset to ever start.
I never touched rec drugs, all I ever wanted was to get ripped and improve my body and never take a substance that would tear it down.

    I notice some myself;
But when my GF is with me she says both the men and women are looking more at me than her. Not sure I think she's totally right about that,
but I do think that if they talk about what they see then "roids" will be debated.
I have noticed the stares from both ways and to be honest ot scares the shit outta me. Its not always sexual from a guy, sometimes its jealous/intimidated. I notice young males that do this shake my hand as hard as they can squeeze.

I've never quite understood this practice in the gym.... there's always a big guy that walks in and everyone just flocks to him... I assumed he was the gym source but it must be common practice to try and get the biggest guys approval or something maybe?

This is such a great topic, big ups to the original poster

I could type about this for days so I will keep it brief.

Way better than I expected running low dose cycles with TRT.

I once nearly asked a particularly exquisite man how he got as big as he was. I walked over, looked at his eyes, his eyes said "tren ." I walked away and never said a word, just nodded.

Well I don't know where to post this, but I just realized my t-shirt was soaked at chest level, both sides.

Such is the life of a man on steroids .

I had this problem well before TRT, with prolactin being normal.

Probably lowering Test is affecting androgen/E2 balance there, but this is transitory.

I've got to the point I just find it amusing.

I actually like the night sweats and increased temp during the day. Makes me feel like I'm burning off fat.

Not sure if really you got it, I didn't mean sweating, but nipple discharge.
