    IQ test to vote

    Discuss...

I will lay out both sides tell me your thoughts.

We allow our country to be operated by the average. Why? Why does everyone get a say?

Supposing their was a brief questionnaire before a person was allowed to vote. Nothing too difficult, simple questions about the processes of the American government.

Name the three branches of government?
Who is the president of the Senate?
How many years do senators serve in a term?

Hell just ten questions like this. If they miss one their vote is void.

I personally believe if a persons IQ is under 90 they should have no say in the running of government. I believe a system such as this would help make thing much more efficient.
I also believe there would be no such thing as a democrat after the first election because most minorities who vote solely on welfare and liberal social issues would be unable to qualify.

Now the other side of this...

Thats unfair! All men are created equal in the eyes of God. I cant believe someone thinks so cruelly. I pay my taxes! I will vote!

Yes I pay taxes too. I pay a lot more taxes because idiots that have no clue how the United States government operates, get to vote. :-0
When you let the average set the pace, it slows.

How do we set the pace?
A certain education level? Fourth grade social studies and history questions? A specific IQ requirement?

How about we make it a certain number of the top IQ voters?
Maybe make the questions a little more difficult?

I hate to be rude but in my little opinion 80% of people voting shouldn't be because they cant pass even the most basic third grade questionnaire.

Don't worry though... My vote doesn't count. I quit voting because there are too many idiots to make a difference or do anything but continue the path of mediocrity. Fuck... Last election the most appealing candidates were a reality tv star and Monica Lewinsky's ex boyfriends wife (point in case right there).

Anyway... How would you feel about someting like this? Should every dumbass that can hold a pencil be allowed to vote?

well originally when voting was set up in the place, there were qualifications to vote. You had to be a land/property owning male in order to vote.

why would you have to be a land owner in order to vote back then ? because they knew the 'non land owners' were not hard workers, wise with their money, and would most likely just try and vote other peoples money into their own pocket.
hmmm, seems thats kinda what happened since getting rid of that qualification to vote.

Aye, at least you see where I am coming from. There should be some sort of a qualifications system beyond citizenship.

What happens when the wolves don't thin out the weak/sick of the herd?

    It is the same principal.

For people thinking I am silly:

Imagine, (whatever political party you lean toward)
the opposing party going around collecting people over 18 with downsyndrome promising them jello and crayons if they get on the bus and vote xxx....

You would be laughing or appalled, but it would be legal. There are no standards.

Step one should at least be a nation-wide voter ID requirement.

    yep

I think the land owner law should still apply. Knock out all the mongoloids in nyc and la living in hallway sized apartments.
But that would never happen. Youd have to allow everyone to vote as it is now BUT make land owning voters count as 1 1/4 vote. I think thats fair. Us land owners are the ones paying the bills anyway.

You realize, that was the whole rational behind the electoral college? The regular plebs couldnt be trusted with such an important decision.
Nowadays, I am not sure the members of the electoral college could pass such an IQ test.

    The candidates would change.
I believe everything about politics would change if candidates were no longer having to appeal to the average person, but people smart enough to base their vote off actual political policy.

There is a linear relationship between IQ and a feelings of knowing what is best for someone else. Most people don’t vote anyway. And now there is a national movement to lower the voting age to 16. That’s the only way the Democratic Party has a chance in the future.

As far as the electrical college. The Framers learned an extremely important lesson from history to not allow those in their ivory tower echo chambers to drowned the voice of the populace that feeds them.

Yes with the IQ and feeling you know whats best.
The constitution prevents this though. The ability to decide whats best for someone in a manner that interferes with their personal freedom, should not be an option in the United States.
The constitution is toilet paper today because we let morons and foreign idealists vote. People who had no idea what the country was supposed to be or what freedom is have overtaken. The US is perpetually doomed to move further and further left leaning and socialist as long as this continues.

It’s a pendulum it will swing back, it has to its simple physics. Libertarian ideals are stronger than they have ever been. The best example is how many state have legalized a certain once continuous item that even 20 years ago would have been unthinkable. The US Comstitution was designed elegantly to prevent mob rule and political fire storms of the moment. This allows for the pendulum to swing back and for the balance to eventually restore for a period as it swings on. And the cycle repeats.

I like the idea but we have been a deeply socialist country since the great depression and we move ever more that way. Regulations always get stricter and more agencies are created. Most law passed today is never voted on. It is "code" enacted by agencies such as the fbi, irs, dot, and a thousand others at a state and federal level.

We wont see a great change in our lifetime. The people who vote on average are jackasses that have no concept of capitalism vs. socialism or freedom.

Trump leans right but once he is gone will will get a left leaner to undo.

Freedom is dead here on a federal and state level.
I have to break the hell out of laws to be any kind of free. All are victimless crimes.

My grandfather paid more state then federal income tax by a damn sight. Today I pay many times more to the fed than state. Its sickening. We allow it, we watch it, we do nothing but move deeper.

The average joe blow doesn't have a clue what it takes to run a business today, but he makes the calls. As long as their belly is full and they have entertainment, they really don't give a damn about anything.

    my 2 cents.....
The computer program get used to vote can be very easily manipulated to look like people have chosen the candidate "they" want in power. When got asked (remember US cant figure out who was the president in Bush era?) the company replied it has "privileged custom software" so it cant disclose the information in the software. seriously? its a god damn counting program which I can write in my sleep. You can increase the IQ of the voter but if they still dont have power to choose all of this for nothing
thats what it they showed in the man of year
