Alright guys after almost ten years I finally bought a ring for this chick. We’ve been through hell together but she’s been amazing to me and makes my life better in so many ways so I dug myself a nice little financial hole buying her a decent ring lol but hey I only plan on doing this once so I had to do it right lol.
I should have the ring by Christmas so I was thinking of doing it then. Still have to ask the fathers permission... even though I’m sure I have as we’ve touched on this subject once or twice around her family haha. But I figured the right thing to do is formally ask him (even though I’m very certain he’s not crazy about me and the feeling is mutual lol) .... you guys agree?

Anyways I was thinking Christmas Day... possibly when we go over to my family’s house.... or I was just thinking of getting it over with when we are at our house together lol. You guys have any ideas/advise???

Personally, I never liked the idea of Christmas cause I think they somewhat expect it then. I would try to make it a total surprise, and something original

Well done on being together so long, life partners are rare and most people just settle for what's there. I don't get how contracts are romantic but if your dead set on this woman go for it. Have an over the top day but I'm not sure about Christmas, the anniversary will pull focus and vice versa. Don't ask permission coz your not buying her anymore.

She’s been bugging me for ten years about getting married... by now she probably thinks it will never happen lol So I guarantee it will be a surprise.... as far as the anniversary thing... idk that people really think much about the anniversary of when they proposed??? Idk though that never crossed my mind.

Tossing her a box and saying I got ya a gift, Hope ya like it....no!!!!! I would stay away from....I couldn’t afford another gift so this is it!!!!!

Im leaning towards a private moment but really depends on what you want and what she likes!!!

Congrats man,

I’m popping the questing in January. Her best friend and I are planning it together. It’s going to be a disguised as a couples trip since her best friends birthday is that particular weekend. We are going to all walk down to a huge waterfall. Her friends are going to act like they are taking pictures of us. Somehow we will distract her and then I will pull out the ring and do it then. I’m nervous as allllll get out.

I’m very happy for you. It’s great to have someone that you can spend and share a lifetime of experiences with. Good or bad, but you still manage and thrive together.

He slides it to Shirley who removes the lid.

Well holy crap there is a ring taped to the lid!

Jack is already moving to one knee at her side as she realizes what it is...

Just saying be creative. You want her to remember this when life gets hard and she is pissed off at you thinking about divorce papers lol!

I feel like just me doing it at this point will be more than enough for her lol it’s long over due. I honestly feel awful I’ve waited this long... I can tell it’s definitely broke her a little... even though she plays it off like it’s fine. I just remember her birthday earlier this year she told me she really felt like I was going to do it then and I could just see the disappointment.

Haha I know I know I have thought of putting it off till I think of something perfect. But, life isn’t perfect, we are both so busy with work it’s hard to be romantic, or think of anything other than sleeping lol. I don’t really want to do it in front of people and we don’t have any “special place” or anything like that... idk man I’m just getting rolled by life at the moment and just gotta get this done haha.

Since her mom is sick, we are basically just going to the courthouse. And we want to save money on a wedding so we can buy guns and fishing gear...

Thanks Rajin!!! Our first date was at the movies... so nothing special lol and we don’t really have any special places lol. I had always thought of doing it on a cruise because we like going on them but we just don’t have the money for a vacation right now. Plus the stress of traveling with an expensive ring would kill me lol between the airlines and the cruise ship I would be scared to death of having it lost somewhere along the line lol.

Another nice workout.

Lighter weights but lots of time under tension. Takes me 3-4 minutes to complete each set. I’m doing full body this week since i took 3 weeks off. Interestingly I have not got sore once doing this long time under tension workout, but am completely spent by the time I’m done.

Everything went great guys! We went to a Christmas party on her mother’s side of the family Christmas Eve and I was able to get a minute to formally ask her father, which went well and I’m really glad I did because I believe it was 100% the right thing to do.
Christmas morning it was just my girlfriend and I (and our dog) at our house. She gave me all my presents and then I sprung the ring on her.... totally surprised her and I’ll never forget how incredible her reaction was. It made every dollar spent and all the stress I went through worth it and then some. It was a good Christmas for sure!
