Steering wheel leg stretcher
I've been doing yoga for about 14 years now and I'm half-decent at it.
The thing is though, I can't do the splits. Doing the splits is the ultimate marketing campaign for a yoga teacher. Put yourself on a poster sitting in the splits and people will take interest.
I've been stretching my legs for about 15 - 20 years since I took up martial arts and then Thai boxing. I have decent flexibility but I'm no ballerina.
I was thinking it would be nice if, 40 years from now, I could be retired and teach a yoga class twice a week -- that wouldn't be a bad life.
So I'm thinking I should step up my game and get this apparatus:
You sit in that chair and you turn the steering wheel to push your legs out. From glancing at it, I think the design of it is fairly sound.
Should I buy this thing and then use it for 5mins every day after I get out of the sauna? (By the way I'm building a mini sauna hut for out my back garden).

I thought you had already built a hut. Are you building a larger one or one with a different heat source?

Had one of these in my 30’s when I was doing kickboxing & martial arts. Never had nor got my kicks higher than 90 degrees at a comfortable level. However, turned out all of that time I had misshapen femoral heads (ball of the hip joint) & if wasn’t in the cards no matter what I did.
For me, the device helped a bit & it wasn’t too pricey.
Yes, stretch after heat or with it for that matter.

Possibly yes. However, after 14 years of some stretching/yoga and not having the flexibility that you desire, that just might be telling you that your body may have some limitations there.
I strongly feel that we each have genetic limitations & that they reveal themselves pretty quickly. If the device is going to work, it should take a few months or quicker, not years.
For me it was a decent investment because it wasn’t really expensive & it got me a little more range.
Sometimes you just have to give everything a shot if it’s that important, just so you can have peace of mind that you left no stone unturned.
Out here, there are some awesome Thai massage places that will give deep pressure massage, soft tissue work & push your range as well. It’s another thought.

I'm watching YouTube videos here, and I really don't know what to believe. There's one guy who only took 40 days to do the splits:
and then there's this other guy who stretched everyday for 30 days and there was no difference at the end:

I've been doing martial arts and yoga for 20+ years now and I still can't do the splits. I wonder if I'll be wasting my time buying that stretching device.
