    Cool Official quitting smoking thread!

Well Im finally quitting, hopefully for good this time as I have a very good reason to.

I have 21 cigs left from 50 today cause I slowed down the smoking from 60 a day cause I knew I was quitting, I already got a short fuse from cutting down 60 to 29, doesnt sound good when I quit completly

Any advice for me or anyone wanting to quit would be VERY appreciated and Ill probably post once a day when I quit to keep a log.

ehhh thats about it I guess

Ive read about ZYBAN before and just touched up a bit here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zyban

No thanx Ill stay off that shit

I have the motivation to quit, I just didnt have a good enough reason to quit before so I really didnt want to, this time Ill quit.

I can get it but I dont wanna use any drugs, nicotine replacement crap(hell cigs are alot cheaper) or any of that crap, I started smoking just like that and Ill quit just like that.

The highest success rate was with people quitting cold turkey and I guess people who had good enough reasons and motivation a good site is http://whyquit.com/

    Thanx for the suggestion neway.

All you have to do is not light one, don't overthink it you will only make it harder for yourself.

How in the hell were you doing all that fitness stuff in preperation for your military career if you were smoking 60 a day?

Thats what I was thinking, whats so damn hard to quit if you have a good reason?? just dont light a cig it aint that hard

Well I was struggling and still am but I got through it, I used to hyperventilate I guess and feel like shit afterwards, hell I used to smoke while running, while doing dips and so on....

But all I have now is 19 cigs to go.....18....

I tried to quit smoking so many times it's nuts. I did however manage to go one full week without a cigarette. I smoke approx. 1 pack a day. I've tried every drug, prescription, OTC, and let me tell you, NONE OF THEM WORK. I even had some laser bullshit where they shoot a laser beam in your ear and it's supposed to make you quit.

I figure it like this, you either wanna really quit, or you don't. Either way, just pick one. If you truely wanna quit, just stop smoking cold turkey. The first day is the worse, but after the first 24 hours, it's a lot easier. Don't quit in the middle of the day. Start off fresh. Go to bed, and the next morning, don't smoke another cig again. This way you are asleep for the preliminary "withdrawl" symtoms. This actually worked for me. The first 8 hours of "non-smoking" are the worst, so make the 8 hours be while your sleeping.

I still smoke however. But, with my luck, I'll quit smoking and a month later get hit by a bus. So, I don't care. I've smoked for nearly 15 years. Is it gonna make that big of a difference to quit now? I don't think so. The damage is done as far as I'm concerned. Atleast I'll die happy.

    Good Luck

p.s. Also, if you know any really hot chicks that don't smoke and hate smoking, tell her she needs to come stay with you a few nights to make sure that you don't cheat. Just tell her that you have a crush on her and your quitting smoking to be with her.

    1st 36 hours:

-Developed fever 3 hours after quitting, sore throat and difficulty breathing, I woke up next day with a fever and dead tired.

I took some Motrin and was fine, we set up this run and we met at 10, Me, a Navy recruiter, his brother and someone who signed up.

I finished a 3-4 mile run with them which was fvcking hard because of my lungs, my fever and a broken foot 2 months ago.

I didnt crave cigs at all, not a bit....the thought of them made me sick...

So far so good, Quitting smoking is not that hard, its not hard at all, all you have to do.....is not put a cig in ur mouth and light it...it aint that hard.

You're full of shit....just 20 mins after your last cig, healing begins.

Dont give me this whole ohhh the damage is done Im fvcked neway...so I wont quit.

You are doing more damage, and as you grow older......ur healing abilities will slow down, at some point, your gonna go limp......

And then when ur with a girl and she says whats wrong......All ull be able to say is: I prefer "fags" over you. Dont worry though, just call me up and Ill fvck her for ya

Hey Ironfreak i'm sure if you can endure the training that you will go through when you become a Navy Seal you can certainly kick the smoking habit no problem. The training for Seals i think is way more of a challenge then quitting smoking, you will have to endure countless hours of physical and mental stress, abuse, and learn to eat nasty things and basically survive in the most unimaginable conditions known to man. You can quit smoking bro, if you have what it takes to be a Navy Seal you can quit smoking!!

And why do you smoke now?? I think you are addicted, because it makes no sense to spend money to decrease ur lung capacity, constrict ur blood vessles, mess up ur dopamine recpetors unless ur crazy or addicted.

So you are addicted, maybe not Heavily addicted yet, but deffinatly addicted, its obvious because you smoke and you just admitted you take a week off to control yourself.

Quit now, before it gets harder to quit and before it fvcks up ur body nemore, the earlier you quit, the sooner you start to heal.

    Nope.

I want to fight until one of our noses are broke.

Audis would just throw a few slaps around and say "ok that's enough!".

I did smoke once upon a time, why? - I have no clue, I chalk it up to the follies of youth, but it boggles my mind to see apparently intelligent people still smoking.
If you smoke let me tell you something - You stink of death!

  34. #34
Cold turkey is the way to go. I dunno what the big deal is. I smoked basically a pack a day for 4 years and one day decided to stop. I chewed a ton of gum for the first few days and then that was it. Never smoked another cig and its been 2 years.

Really Well, go tell that to my father in law. Oh wait, you can't, he's in a grave He smoked for 20 years. He quit in 1991. He died last year of lung cancer. Doctors told us that you can quit today, and still die of lung cancer because of the damage you did while you smoked. See, first he had brain cancer, and we were like Well, come to find out after the autopsy that he actually had lung cancer first. It then spread to his brain. Nobody knew he had either. He literally started going nuts last July. He went to the hospital to get checked out, and the next day had brain surgery. He was fine for a month, and died in October. So, he lived 4 months after he found out he had cancer. Doctors blamed smoking 100%.

So, to me, that whole "quitting one day starts the healing process" is a bunch of bullshit. I'm sure you start healing but guess what, is it too far gone? Some say yes, some say no. Well, guess what, flip a quarter and see what comes out of it. It's the same shit.

yeah the phsical like the lung tissue and and bronchial path starts healing but the carcinigous shlt's gona be there forever, so youll still breathe much better, but dont be surprised if u get cancer one day.....still worth quitting i think
