You're program is "I don't trust myself", "I just **** up constantly", what do you really expect is gonna change if you don't change that first?
ANYTHING you take in from the world is gonna go into your head, run through your psychological circuitry, and come out in the same form it always has. If you constantly degrade yourself in your own head, its almost IMPOSSIBLE for the software in your brain to create anything good or positive.
This is a strong concept in the classic book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. But the core of the book revolves around how people talk to themselves, and how that really does wind up influencing their entire lives. Napolean Hill wasted 30 years of his life studying rich people, and the one main thing he learned was that rich people KNOW happiness is a choice and because of that, specific things will always materialize in these peoples lives, like financial stability and what not.
Emotionally "rich" people simply think rich, emotionally "poor" people think poorly. I've had times in my life where I've been in BAD circumstances, I mean god awful horrific places in life, but oddly enough, some of these times were also when I was happiest. Because when things get REAL bad your emotions kinda go into "survival mode" quite like your body does when you're starving.
And the same way your body forces itself to adjust for your benefit, (by storing food as fat) your mind will do the same when things get REALLY bad.
This is also why I think things right now aren't as bad as you really think they are, cause if they were, your mind would find ways on its own to survive w/out much help from the programs you've spent years writing. The mind WILL override social conditioning when it means survival.
You can tell yourself for 50 years "I'm a wimp", then 1 day someone pulls a gun on you and you smash their face in.
Whats amazing about this, is your mind is so much smarter then you, ("you" being your perception of who you are, or a conscious *thought, not a reality. By "mind" I mean the unconcious mechanisms that keep you alive ) that it knows when it needs to IGNORE you to surive.
Think about that for a minute, "why the fuk does my mind ignore me on its own will for SURVIVAL"? Because your mind, unlike you, realizes 99% of the thoughts that go through it really mean nothing at all. Its just what the mind does to occupy its time on this planet.
But you will find when your surival is at risk, the last person your mind comes to for help is YOU or your conscious thoughts. If we worked that way our species would have been extinct millions of years ago.
Thats the magnificent thing about the mind, happiness, being content, so many people think these are things we need to WORK FOR or ACHIEVE. You DO NOT achieve happiness (which is why I hate that movie "persuit of happiness" with Will Smith - it creates a completely false portrayal of what it takes to be happy - it doesn't actually take anything).
No matter how bad things get, its really only an excuse or justification for you to not like your life. Happiness will ALWAYS start in your mind, and you don't work for it, you just fvckn do it.
That is prob the single best thing about happiness, ANYONE can experience it the second they realize its just a choice.
But the downfall to this (when you realize that happiness is obtainable at anytime) is you realize sadness/anger is also available at anytime. And when you begin to understand that you can CONTROL your emotions and that theres no secret to how its done, you also begin to understand that every emotion you ever had in life was essentially fake.
Thats why the saying "dont take yourself too seriously" was invented.
In the end you can be happy or sad, but I still think the gift in life is not from either one of those concepts. The true gift of life is life itself, or EXISTENCE. Just being alive, when you realize how irrelevant thoughts are, and you can actually just sit the fvck down and not have a single thought go through your head. THAT is called LIVING. And thats what I recommend you just DO, don't try, just do it.
