Is it okay to workout while ill?

Hope this is in the right place, but is it okay to train if you have a cold/flu?

Im really bummed cause I woke up feeling lousy this morning. Can't go to the gym anyways today cause of the crap weather but how advisable is it to train if you're feeling low?

Do some of you just get on with it, or can it make your bug worse?

From what I have read it it best to let the body heal. Its also the best in my experience too.

no dont. usually when your sick you body induces a fever to aid in fighting the pathogen. so exercising will raise your tempt. even more.

Are you ill or just bummed out because of the weather? It happens to me often here. I feel like I'm drained or sick because of the weather when I'm really not. The best cure for that is working out, to be honest. If that's what you have then go for it.

You can train if you just have a mild cold. If you really feel like crap then its not worth it trying to train threw it and may hinder your body from fighting off the cold.

When the cold hits you hard I would take a day or 2 off. This aside I notice that when I am feeling alil shitty a good workout actually makes me feel better.

Agreed, my roommate is always bitchin about if your sick you should rest so you can get back in...only one ONE occassion did I feel bad and exercise did me dirty..i was runnin on little sleep and popped some caffeine and hit weights and cardio and my body went into major fatigue and i felt nauseous and had a headache for about 24 hours then BAM back hard up again..

but in the past anytime ive felt a little sick I go hit the gym and feel better..and when i never think that im sick either (tell the mind to tell your body your okay)

this is more philosophy of my life but do what you want..scientifically no you should rest lol.

Take a few days off, or maybe just do some abs or light cardio at home.

    Everyone's different though

Remember the other gym members too. They don't want to see someone coughing, sneezing and infecting everyone in site. Wait until you feel you can get in a decent workout and the sides are not as bad.

I try to take a couple of days off if I catch a cold. They say that you're only contagious the first few days as well.
