Half Lives and Start Times

Ok, I get that PCT start times are based on the half life of a particular ester. But what is the real trigger point in terms of the amount of test remaining in one's system before initiating PCT? In other words, if Test E has a half life of 10.5 days and we start PCT at 14 days for a typical 500mg per week cycle, then you're only slightly past one half life before beginning PCT. Or am I totally missing something??? I hope I've not mangled this question....

Test Enanthate's half life is closer to 5 days.

Man, I'm telling you there is so much contradictory info out there! I'm not doubting or saying that's wrong Mickey, just that there is a ton of info saying otherwise, even here. Case in point, http://forums.steroid.com/anabolic-s...4-18-days.html

In that thread above, you were kinda in the same boat I was in, as far as Test E, 10.5 day half life. How do you sort out the creditable studies from the hogwash? I mean, that's a HUGE difference. Should we perhaps be re-evaluating PCT start times if indeed Test E's half life is 5 days, and all length esters for that matter? Again, I'm not calling anyone out on the carpet....just trying to sort all this out and understand. Thanks again guys.

1. That link is certainly not a "case" to make an argument. I think at that time we all were confused as to the half life of Enth. Even Austin felt it was 10.5 days at the time. But we now know, at least i do, that the half life of Enth is NOT 10 days. This is based upon credible studies - not banter.

2. Below is just one study that clearly supports the approximate 5 day half life and has supporting references to back up the claim. Show me a respected study or clinical trial with reference support and i'll be glad to read it.

And just to add, GD has often indicated the half life of Cypionate to be approximately 6 days. If that's true, then Enanthate could not be 10.5 days. That would be impossible given the above data.

No.

This is where it gets confusing for some folks. The goal is not be completely clear of exogenous test, but to have enough that will still allow HPTA to re boot and begin producing your own testosterone, yet not too much that will continue to suppress you and prevent re boot.

Of course the million dollar question is, 'how much is that?' And my answer is everyone metabolizes at varying rates. So at best, this can be very difficult to narrow down exactly. However, we do know through bloodwork that using the 14 day ester of Enanthate to predict beginning of recovery phase has proven to be successful for the larger percentage of ASS users.

Ok, that clears a lot of my questions up right there. There is not a definitive residual test number we're shooting for, just enough to initiate a re-boot yet not enough to inhibit the re-boot. I have been operating under the assumption that there was a specific number we should achieve prior to kicking off PCT but the whole, "everyone metabolizes at varying rates," clears up my question.
