Veggie shakes***** can someone give me their opinion please?

So I can post my entire diet at another time but I wanted to just ask about my veggie shakes. I am planning to do 2 veggie shakes a day implemented into my diet which will be the first and the last meal of my days.

The first shake includes raw oats (1 serving or so) a heaping cup of raw carrots and 2 handfuls of spinach, 1 cup mixed berries, 1 banana, coconut oil 1tsp, peanut butter 1tsp and 2 scoops (50g protein) of protein powder I have... I forget what kind it is at the moment but it's a blend with casien, isolate, and some others..

Night time shake would include the same as the morning shake but take out the banana and oats..

    QUESTIONS....

    1. are both of those shakes a good way to start and end the day?

    2. is there anything you would add to the shake(s) or take out of them? (keep in mind a veggie shake without any fruit would probably be horrible to me so I hope the fruit isn't a killer/deal breaker for it being a good shake for me.

    3. are veggie shakes supposed to replace a meal meal?? Or just be like something you have between meals and then eat 1-2 hours after?

Thank you all for your time and help!!!

That isn't a veggie shake, it is a meal replacement shake.

Answer 3 Most guys qnd gals here eat their protein and use shakes for post workout. Guys like Kelkel and Marcus drink protein shakes in the middle of the night just to maintain LBM. Just to maintain.

I can only guess that you are bulking? If you are, eat real food Your shake and ingredients need to fit your daily macros and we don't have the full picture here so noone can really answer your question.

Post up your stats and lets see what we are working with

Thanks for your reply... Well let's see so it sounds like you are saying DON'T put protein powder in the shake.. Ok I won't then.

Stats... 32yo, 6'2" tall, 215 lbs. bf% is somewhere in the 20's i'm guessing from looking at the bf pictures... maybe 25ish. No I am not bulking but I also am not 'cutting' (meaning I am not going on some cutting diet so i can compete on stage) I do want to lose fat and gain muscle obviously.

This is not directed at anyone in particular but please nobody tell me I can't burn fat while building muscle because I have done it before from 25% bf down to about 13% or so. I have just had a run in with some bad luck which caused me to lose motivation, lose access to weights, lose access to a decent diet etc... (jail yeah... because my P.O. found all my gear in my room so, my bad!)

Thanks for the help and the reason I want that shake in the morning is because I have to wake up soooooo damn early I can whip that shake up quick..... then eat 1-2 hours later so please if there is a good shake I can make with those ingredients and you or anyone knows how I should make it let me know!

p.s. I never really ate veggies much at all before but now I am in shake form so that's a reason I was really wanting 2 veggie type of shakes a day

I see absolutely no problem with the shakes. They are good ingredients! To your question...Yes I would eat another meal 1-2 hours after each one.

Thank you for the reply... I may have to skip the night shake because of work... I am going to bed at 9 or 10p.m. at the latest..... I workout at 6 p.m.-7 or 7:30.. Then I have my PWO shake... I will eat a meal RIGHT before bed. In about 2-3 weeks I will not be working so I can do the shakes before bed.....

QUESTION... I heard and have read that after a workout you should have a PWO shake which I do have... consists of banana, 2 scoops isopure isolate protein (50g protein) 1 scoop glycomaize (50g carbs) in water blended with ice. I think my PWO shake is in check and good for RIGHT after a workout. Now what sort of dinner should i eat RIGHT BEFORE BED?? I have read that your meal after your pwo shake should have carbs in it.... so should I have a meal before bed with carbs in it or not? My instinct is telling me to just do a pure protein meal like an omelette or something..

any ideas, opinions on what my meal should be after pwo shake right before bed time? Thank you

Your PWO shake is on the money like you thought. For your next meal just before bed.. I would say it depends on you and your body type as to whether you include carbs. Personally if it was me I would include carbs, but I also have a little ecto in me. Do you gain body fat easy? Then don't include carbs. Also this would be a good meal to include some healthy fats.

Yes I do gain bf easy... see my pictures as proof here.. http://forums.steroid.com/members-pi...-work-%5D.html

Ok so I will do a high protein meal before bed as I thought was a good idea since carbs to go to sleep on seems stupid for me anyway... Can you give me any ideas of some good fats to eat or implement into an omelette some how? Avocado is probably a good idea... I REALLY need to count my macros for a week or two so I can remember what quantities of everything I need to be eating. thanks for the help! Everyone in here must have food coma.... and be sleeping cause it's dead in here! lol :b

Protein is good. I was just trying to impress on you that it is better to chew then drink your protein macro.

Ya it has been dead around this site for a week or so now?! You called what you need to do. You certainly have many characteristics of the endo-morph. In conclusion DO NOT eat carbs just before bed. Avocado on that omelette is a fantastic idea! (I never use the word fantastic in my speech.lol) Other good fat sources would be, olive oil, all natty PB, nuts, almonds.

ohhh ok cool.... well since I don't really have the option to chew it in the morning (unless I woke up at like 3:45 instead of 4:15ish.... which isn't what I want to do on these 12 hour days...) I guess I will put the powder in my morning shake... fewph glad you replied before tomorrows shake cause I was going to leave my protein powder out of it!! ;b

Nice man thanks... I will def. NOT eat carbs prior to bed. I USED to when I was already in shape but since I'm a lot fatter now and out of shape I will stick to the protein / good fats prior to bed. I'm actually about to go make my meal now... omelette with avocado (1/2) cooked in a few drops of olive oil. =P yummm.

Thanks you guys for the replies!! ANYTHING else you think might help me would be awesome. I think I will post some more questions as new threads later as I have other questions. Appreciate it!
