    Just to clarify- I believe in training! But can exercise way out of poor eating habits!

    I try to eat clean but honestly there have been times where I’ve ate a ton of junk food and been in great shape. It all boils down to calories in vs calories out of course with adequate protein. The main difference is the sense of well being and obviously insulin spikes and crashes which will make you feel lethargic. Is it healthy to eat crap too much? No but it can work still as long as you have the energy to workout. Cholesterol and other problems are definitely more likely with prolonged crap diet too.

    DNA / hereditary may be contributors to cholesterol and A1C1. Not using this as an excuse to eat [emoji90] diet!

    Metabolism is a factor too.

    Very funny to me thousands of years ago a "crap diet" would be viewed as the typical BB diet today and sugar would be revered as the highest ideal health item. Total bullshit to me that sugar is bad, completely ridiculous something your body desires so bad can be harmful.

    Honestly makes me really pissed off when shit like this gets regurgitated. How "healthy" does an average fitness person who eats a typical bb diet look? You will notice purple bags under their eyes, hair loss and all other kinds of shit that result from not eating enough.

    Article clearly putting generalized statements against sugar that have little to no validity in nature, just makes people feel good about restricting something so they feel like they are doing something good.

    I personally don't have one side or another side to defend or not.. but there was a recent study done on insulin resistance comparing a very high fat diet (in a calorie surplus) vs a low fat high carb diet (in a calorie surplus) and pretty much universally across the board the high fat diet created more insulin resistance then the high carb diet.

    one of the key factors here though is still the calorie surplus. wither your diet is high fat or high carb, IF your in a calorie deficit your likely not going to get insulin resistance. its eating a surplus constantly that plays a role in effecting our health.

    eating lots of sugar and carbs, but being in a calorie deficit is likely just fine.

    BUT eat too much of either of these (especially fat according to the study) while in a surplus of calories and you'll eventually run into issues.

    This reminds me of a good expression I heard the other day. Your genetics loads the gun, but your environment and lifestyle pulls the trigger. Lots of people like to blame their situation on genetics and family history. But if it was that simple then the individual would have had diabetes at 12 or 15 or 18 years old, instead of 35 years old, after eating poorly for 25 years straight.

    The sugar here in US is crap. We grew up eating sugar cane, sugar cane juice, sugar cane sugar. Never had any issue.

    isn't it the people in their 70s, who also grew up eating sagar cane (not high fructose corn syrup), the same people who are all dying of diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
